Share your top picks with me by joining my group, My Favorite Gadgets and blogging about your "can't live without 'em gadgets." If I think everyone should know about them, I might even feature them on the geeksugar homepage.
I was checking out the posts on TeamSugar when I came across this one in the Cake Decorators Unite! group. Group founder ashleyk4214 really stepped up her game and created this gorgeous cake for a wedding this past weekend. It's a French vanilla cake with blueberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing. That sounds delicious enough, but my favorite part is actually the cascading white roses, hydrangeas and creeping ivy. See more photos, just read more
If you guys haven't been checking out TeamSugar lately you may have missed a relatively new group called Cake Decorators Unite! In it you can share your masterpieces, as well as any cake decorating tips you may have acquired. Right now most of the posts are from TeamSugar member ashleyk4214, but if she keeps posting creations as cute as this cake she made for her brother-in-law, then I'm okay with that! Check out the group and be sure to sign up and submit your cake decorating tips.
Yesterday I shared some fabulous photos Lindsb's good friend took at the "The Art of the Brick" exhibit by Nathan Sawaya at the Lancaster Museum of Art and I realized there are probably thousands of you geeksugar readers who have exciting, geeky photos, stories and tips you want to share with me and your fellow geek fans.
Our shared admiration for all things techie, chic and innovative is the primary reason I started the Geeky Things I Love group, where I hope you readers will divulge all your greatest finds - like this custom designed smoked glass, etched with Darth Vader's image on the side of a popcorn machine.
This is different than just bookmarking geek gear you've found around the internet because it offers a place where you can share images and stories of unusual museum or art exhibits, funny gadgets you've found while traveling or even news, reviews and tips I haven't shared with yet. Essentially, I want to know about all the geeky things you've found while trekking the globe, checking out your hometown or cruising the internet.
As always, I'll feature my favorite posts on the geeksugar homepage. To learn how to subscribe to the group post your finds to the Geeky Things I Love, read more
The next group I want to highlight in our Better Know a Group series is Lite'n it Up. Lite'n it Up was started by our own FitSugar and is a place to put your healthy recipes and fat-cutting tips. In Lite'n it Up, you'll find original healthy concoctions or "cleaned up" old favorites (like these Lightened Up PB Cookies). So if you're trying to watch what you eat, but still want to experience some great tasting food, then join Lite'n it Up and see what's cooking!
*Drool* You know you're drooling too. How could you not be drooling at this three layer chocolate raspberry mousse cake with white chocolate ganache, raspberries and chocolate shavings on top. This photo was posted by our very own geeksugar in the Savory Sights Group. And today, as part of my Better Know a Group series, I thought I'd take a minute to introduce you to the Savory Sights Group.
You might be asking yourself, how is this different from the other food groups? Well, this one is just for photos (think of it as look book for your food). Go out to dinner? Take a picture and post it for us to share! Have a fantastic meal at a friend's house? Take a picture and post it! See a fancy new product? Well, you get the idea.
Post your hard kitchen work and recipes in another group (such as kitchen goddess or Let's Have a Drink), and post your inspiration here! Join now and get your pictures posted, because we're planning on giving away stuff to our favorite image each month!! To learn how to post to the Savory Sights Group, read more
If there is one thing I know about geeks, it's that most of us like to share (and sometimes boast) about all our prized gadgets, gizmos and techie treats. I started My Favorite Gadgets so we could do just that. Whenever I get a new toy I play around with it, have a mini photoshoot with it and usually share it with all of you. Now I want you to do the same thing. Capture your iPod, Blackberry, RAZR, computer, and video game consoles in their best light and share them with us in the My Favorite Gadgets group. Also crucial: Make sure to share the reasons why you love the gadget so much and the reasons you take it everywhere with you. To learn how to post photos of your favorite gadgets in the group, read more
Ah for the joy of a nice drink (be it alcoholic or non). I don't know about you guys, but I am always on the lookout for something new to try. Whether it's a sparkling lemonade, or a caramel mochatini, I have got to try them all. Turns out I'm not the only one. In the next part of our Better Know a Group series, I thought I'd highlight the group called Let's Have a Drink. Over at Let's Have..., people share their drink recipes, mixing tips and review the tastes. The group's been around for a while, and goes through spurts of activeness, so join Let's Have a Drink today and get this group shaking! (Get it... shaking, like a drink, as in shaken... not stirred! - sorry, I couldn't resist). I can't wait to read all about your favorite drinks and tips.
A little while ago as I was browsing through the groups on TeamSugar I was surprised to see that there was no group devoted to highlighting images of your fabulous parties. Sure there are groups that discuss wedding party plans, recipes, and wines but what about one devoted to all things party? That's why I started the Super Special Occasions group! When I host a party I love to take tons of pictures of everything from the decorations to the food spreads to the floral centerpieces and beautifully lit candles. Now we can share our pictures with each other and get inspirations and ideas from parties that you've hosted in the past. If you're anything like me and have tons of photos of events you've hosted, attended, or seen, please share them with us in the Super Special Occasions. How adorable is this table setting for lickety split's daughter's 8th birthday? To check out more images of her party (and mine!) and to share your events with us, join the Super Special Occasions group.
As part of my Better Know a Group series, I thought I'd let you guys know about the group called Wine Cellar. As its name might suggest, this group is for everyone who's interested in wine. Open up a bottle and post your own notes here! If you've had a great bottle let everyone know, if you have a bad bottle, share your experience so the rest of us know what to look out for. Also be sure to check out what other people have to say about their bottles, share wine tips, pairing suggestions, post wine news, gadgets and more! The group's still growing, so be sure to check it out - you never know what bottle you'll find in the Wine Cellar.
Be sure to come back and see the rest of the groups in the Better Know a Group series!
