Cosmopolitans: Love Them or Leave Them?

The cosmopolitan cocktail became a household name when it was famously featured in Sex and the City.

The cosmopolitan cocktail became a household name when it was famously featured in Sex and the City. Some might say "infamously featured," since the series made the drink so ubiquitous, it became a punchline in the first Sex and the City movie. Overexposed or not, I still enjoy a good cosmo, especially a variation like this white cosmo. Do you still love cosmos, or would you rather leave 'em behind for a new SATC-inspired recipe?

12 Foods to Avoid on a First Date

Since first dates usually revolve around a meal, it's important to pay attention to what you eat, how you eat it, and how it'll affect you later in the night!

Since first dates usually revolve around a meal, it's important to pay attention to what you eat, how you eat it, and how it'll affect you later in the night! November's issue of Cosmo touched upon mastering a first date, and named six foods to avoid in order to do just that. Check out their six below, and six of my own too!

  • A messy plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce
  • Escargots with butter and garlic
  • Deep-fried anything
  • A salad with low-fat dressing on the side
  • Three-bean chili
  • Barbecued chicken wings

Come Party With Me: Sex and the City Marathon — Drinks

Without Sex and the City, the Cosmopolitan would not be the wildly popular cocktail it is today.

Without Sex and the City, the Cosmopolitan would not be the wildly popular cocktail it is today. Created in the early 80s, the drink became well known because Carrie frequently ordered the rosy-hued concoction. At the Sex and the City marathon that Fab and I are hosting, we'll definitely be pouring Cosmopolitans.

We'll also have tons of pink champagne and sparkling water on hand. To see the cosmo recipe, we'll use, read more

Cosmo: Pet of the Week

Meet Cosmo, the Canasta playing cat.

Meet Cosmo, the Canasta playing cat. I don't know much about that card game, but I'm picturing old dudes and cigars . . . hmm, or cats. This little Ragdoll is one tough cookie, I mean kitty. When not playing this game (or professional poker, natch), he is staging a constant battle against his nemesis, the cable army armor. You see all he wants to do is eat cords – cell phone charger cords, PowerBook charger cords, Roomba charger cords, I have a feeling if it can charge, he will charge. Fortunately, it sounds like mom facin8me has them pretty well protected.

You may have noticed that I've switched up Pet of the Week! Because our lovely group was created back before us animal lovers had our own site – and the ability to add pets to our profiles – I'm gonna be delving into all the great added pets (and play which pet is cuter) and call out the cuties I see. I'll still be checking out the posts in the POTW group, but I wanted to also show some love to users who spent lots of time adding beautiful pictures, galleries, and pet profiles to your own TeamSugar page!

Happy Hour: Champagne Cosmo

I was cleaning out my inbox when I came across this recipe for a Champagne Cosmo.

I was cleaning out my inbox when I came across this recipe for a Champagne Cosmo. The folks at TheBar.com sent it over as a great holiday cocktail, but unfortunately I didn't see it in time. Luckily for us, champagne is always in style, and the cosmo is here to stay. So if you're looking for a new twist on the average glass of bubbly, then check out this recipe. I plan on giving it a go this weekend; let me know if you end up doing the same! To get the recipe, read more

Happy Hour: Pomegranate Cosmo

Last Saturday night I found the words, "The Cosmo is so 2001," tumbling from my mouth. As soon as they escaped, I started to remember — and miss – my old friends: the classic, rosy hued cranberry juice Cosmo and her close cousin, the berry-colored pomegranate Cosmo. Monday morning, I was shocked to find a note from Angelica with a recipe for the pom Cosmo!

Could we be in the midst of a Cosmo renaissance? The pomegranate Cosmo is the perfect, festive, holiday-worthy cocktail. With its gorgeous color, and tart refreshing taste, it's a delicious aperitif or fun party drink. To join me in rekindling my love affair with Cosmos, get the recipe, just read more
