Natalie Zee Drieu's Go-To Holiday Gift Ideas

As part of a fun holiday series, I've asked interior design "tastemakers," from designers and stylists to bloggers and shop-owners, to share their favorite go-to holiday gift ideas with me.

As part of a fun holiday series, I've asked interior design "tastemakers," from designers and stylists to bloggers and shop-owners, to share their favorite go-to holiday gift ideas with me.

Senior editor of Craftzine.com, Natalie Zee Drieu, who also writes the fashion blog Coquette, shared her favorite go-to holiday gift ideas with me:

"I'm a big knitter so for a few Christmases I spent a lot of time knitting hats for friends and family. I'd pick some soft cozy yarn and would embellish them with crochet flowers for hats I'd give to women or little girls. I still have friends who wear their hats I made for them from five years ago. Nothing beats handmade love for the holidays."

This Just In

This Just In: Craft Magazine Closes, Lives On Online

I have some more sad news today.

I have some more sad news today. Craft magazine has made an official announcement that its latest issue, Volume 10, will be its last.
Due to diminishing interests among advertisers and the rise in print and distribution costs, the magazine was facing more and more challenges in publishing a print issue, and decided print publishing is no longer sensible. But, there is a silver lining: The magazine's companion website, Craftzine.com, will live on. Craftzine is a thriving website, with a huge following and plenty of wonderful content. They plan "to bring the best of the magazine to the website," including more craft projects with greater frequency. As sad it is to see Craft cash in its chips, it's encouraging to see the site live on. If only Domino would do the same . . .

Do It Yourself Photo Wine Glass Markers: Love It Or Hate It?

I consider myself a pretty crafty person: I love making collages, homemade cards, and fun little invitations.

I consider myself a pretty crafty person: I love making collages, homemade cards, and fun little invitations. So when I came across this project on Craftzine to create your own drink markers and authentic photo framed wine glasses, I got super excited. It's recommended that you use random close up shots of your friends and family, but think about the endless possibilities! At a tropical party you could do pictures of lush beaches and serve sangria. During the winter holidays, shiny wrapping paper will be beautifully magnified for guests to see while they sip their Zin. Although, I love this idea and will most likely give it a whirl in the future, I'm a teeny bit skeptical. How can you wash the glasses? What happens when I tire of the pictures and want to change them? Will the glue leave a residue on my lovely stemware? How about you? What do you think?
