Growing up, large family dinners, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, always involved a grownups' table and a kids' table.
Since most of my adult meals have involved friends, not family, we no longer have a grownups' and kids' table, but we often have to have two or even three tables to accommodate all of the guests. It's fun having everyone pitch in to set up, and I love seeing how the conversations develop with each table.

Artist and designer Amy Butler, whom many of you know for her textiles, has decided to delve into the world of ceramics, partnering with Mikasa to introduce Vintage Botanica, a unique china pattern in her signature style. Vintage Botanica is a clean-lined collection with curved silhouettes and fresh, colorful florals and in some cases, a stylish peacock. The dinnerware certainly has that Midwest Modern vibe with vintage and organic elements, and is versatile enough for casual or formal dining, depending on how you style your table setting. I'm really digging CB2's new j dinnerware. It's simple and plain — perfect for food photography! — but has just a tiny bit of flare on the edges. Plus, each piece is a total bargain at under $4. What do you guys think, would they find a home on your dinner table?

Are you guys a fan of special servingware for children? Little ones have little mouths and hands, and can sometimes be picky eaters, so cute plates, cups, and utensils might encourage them to eat more. However, I absolutely hate this kids smile place setting by Mono. I'm deathly afraid of clowns and there is something so creepy about the serene smily face that brings a clown to mind. However many may find these plates adorable. So I want to know, kids smile place setting: love it or hate it?
