California's Artisan Cheese Festival is taking place in my hometown this weekend. The event features seminars, creamery tours, dinners, and a large walk-around tasting. It's a cheese lover's heaven! Although I enjoy all kinds of cheese, if I were to pick one current favorite, it would be Midnight Moon by Cypress Grove. It's an aged goat's milk cheese that's smooth, nutty, and complex. How about you? What's your most beloved cheese?
If you're an avid Food Network viewer like I am, you'll probably have noticed that over the holiday weekend, the channel rolled out a new schedule. For example, instead of airing at 1 p.m. on Saturdays, Giada at Home now shows on Sundays at 10 a.m. Luckily my DVR was smart enough to record my favorite programs — Giada, Barefoot Contessa, Mexican Made Easy, and Alex's Day Off — at their new time slots.
Which of the network's shows do you watch on a regular basis?
At his demo during the New York City Wine and Food Festival, Bobby Flay told the crowd that his favorite meal to cook is brunch. Apparently he's been begging the Food Network to let him do a brunch show for years. They only relented after deciding to launch the Cooking Channel; Brunch @ Bobby's debuted two weeks ago. While I enjoy eating brunch, my favorite meal to cook is dinner. How about you?
It could be because it's National All-American Breakfast month, but lately I've been really into making breakfast. There are so many different things one can enjoy first thing in the morning: eggs, bacon, pancakes, toast, fruit, etc. The possibilities are seriously endless! While I love a good fried egg and bacon sandwich, my all-time favorite breakfast dish is eggs Benedict. The combination of crispy English muffin, oozing egg, and luscious hollandaise is absolute perfection.
Since today is the last day in September, now is the time to celebrate breakfast; so tell me, what is your favorite breakfast dish?
Heartbreak is guaranteed when a baby cries more for her nanny than she does for mother. Most mamas dread going back to work for fear their wee one will gravitate more toward her caretaker, but it is all normally for naught. Babies usually know who their mommies are and light up when they walk back in the door. But, how about when it comes to daddy? Many mums grin ear to ear when their tot fancies them over their partner. Do you prefer being favorite?
When I was younger, every time we would go out to eat, I desperately wanted to dine at Fresh Choice. I loved having total control of my meal at the self-service restaurant. I chose the ingredients that went into my salad and selected what kind of soup to slurp. The ability to create my own dinner was empowering and I fondly remember the food being delicious. Although it's been years since I ate at Fresh Choice, it still holds a special place in my heart.
How about you? What were your favorite places to eat as a child?
