Queuing Up For Big BBQ at The Q

We started off the 2012 South Beach Wine and Food Festival in a big way: at Moët Hennessy's The Q, a barbecue and bubbly bash that took place under a tent right under the stars of South Beach. The grillout, which was hosted by Food Network pals Emeril Lagasse and Guy Fieri, was filled with plenty of other star chefs, from Anne Burrell to Stephanie Izard. Check out everything we filled up on — plus all of our behind-the-scenes party pics — when you click ahead.

This weekend marks the 11th annual South Beach Wine and Food Festival, and we're en route to check in on the scene as you read this.

You may know that the festival offers an exciting mix of celebrity chefs, culinary demos, and of course, wine and food — but there's plenty more that goes on behind the scenes. We thought it'd be fun to offer a glimpse of the event by the numbers. Let's begin with the biggest one: the festival will see 57,000 ticketed attendees over the course of this weekend. For more surprising facts, keep reading.

It's been only five days since the final event, but I'm already craving my return to next year's NYC Wine & Food Festival. Between stunning views, world-class restaurant chefs, and an always-colorful New York crowd, it's hard not to want to be back in the Big Apple.

SF Chefs 2011: Highlights From the Tasting Tent

San Francisco's biggest food event, SF Chefs, took place this past weekend, and it was larger than ever.
Epic's Ben Goodnick

San Francisco's biggest food event, SF Chefs, took place this past weekend, and it was larger than ever. When I entered the festival's third-annual Grand Tasting, there was a line around the block to see some of the country's brightest names in cooking, from Martin Yan to Hubert Keller. Check out the talent we bumped into — along with the best bites and sips we tasted.

Savory Sight: Crawfish Boil

We love to attend food events, and so does member senorita, who just attended her first crawfish boil.

We love to attend food events, and so does member senorita, who just attended her first crawfish boil.

I went to my first crawfish boil, lots of fun and tons of tasty food! I would still contend the crawfish were delicious plain, however, a baked potato and corn on the cob could have definitely used some butter. These delicious crustaceans are some work but well worth the effort.

Attending a food festival, or just love taking tasty pictures? Be sure to share them in Savory Sights, and if it looks scrumptious, we just might feature it.

We're more than halfway through October, and before we know it, Breast Cancer Awareness Month will be over. So while you're hunting down that perfect Halloween costume, be sure to find a cause to get behind. Us? We'll be at Domaine Chandon's Pink Party, an annual soirée with pink attire, pink appetizers, and (of course) pink bubbly, to benefit breast cancer treatments at the Queen of the Valley Medical Foundation. If you're in Washington DC, don't miss out on the StarChefs Rising Stars Revue. Regardless of which city you're in, your palate's bound to be impressed.
