A Magical Party For the Holiday Season's Favorite Elf!

The Elf on the Shelf is the biggest Christmas phenomenon to hit since Frosty, and if your kids are truly obsessed with their magical little holiday friend, it only makes sense to throw a party in his honor.

The Elf on the Shelf is the biggest Christmas phenomenon to hit since Frosty, and if your kids are truly obsessed with their magical little holiday friend, it only makes sense to throw a party in his honor.

Luckily for you, Anders Ruff has done the heavy lifting for you, creating an adorable new collection of elf-inspired printables, including posters, Advent calendar tags that double as gift tags, and tons of party labels, cards, banners, and tags. "The magic of the Christmas elf is a tradition that my family has enjoyed for years," Maureen says. "After all, how can Santa possibly watch over all little boys and girls? So when our fabulous friend and client, Audrey of Sweet Cheeks Tasty Treats, brought us the idea of focusing on the magical elf tradition for this year's holiday party, we loved it!" With candy cane stripes, chevron, and snowflakes, this party has us more excited than ever to break out Santa's little scout. Keep clicking to check out all the elf-tastic details!

Diet

Maintaining Your Weight Throughout the Holidays

'Tis the season to be gobbling, and that can make your dieting seem but a distant memory.

'Tis the season to be gobbling, and that can make your dieting seem but a distant memory. Although we know not to feel guilty about a diet "slip up" every now and then, it's easy to do so after each cocktail and treat during your December festivities.

Holiday socializing is not a good excuse to let go of all you've worked hard for over the year. If you've been making an effort to bring healthy appetizers to a party or to combat a Santa-inspired waistline, simply maintaining your weight loss is both an admirable and realistic goal. And there's good news on that front: a recently released study found that Americans, especially those who considered themselves unhealthy, are actually pretty good at maintaining weight loss.

These findings are a good reminder that during this season of indulgence, preserving the effects of your hard work throughout 2010, rather than overexerting and depriving, is a sensible and worthy way to greet the new year. So as you navigate the party circuit, how will you be making healthy choices while enjoying the celebrations of the season?

Holiday Survival Tip: Don't Just Drink, Dance!

Holiday parties don't have to mean drinking too much and stuffing yourself silly.

Holiday parties don't have to mean drinking too much and stuffing yourself silly. It's all about the choices you make. I've already offered a number of ways to prevent hangovers, but here's a less scientific strategy: put down your drink and hit the dance floor.

Dancing at a holiday party keeps you away from the booze and the party food, assuming you don't take your drink with you (you don't want to spill, do you?). Better yet, it burns those extra calories you might be racking up. In just 30 minutes of low-impact aerobic dancing, a 130-pound woman burns about 148 calories. Be sure to follow up your turn on the dance floor with plenty of water. What are you waiting for? Put on some music and get the party going.
