Even though you may have passed the whoopee-cushion-planting phase in your life, there are still ways to have a rollicking good time today. How about tricking food-loving friends with some deceptively different versions of your favorite everyday kitchen accessories? These serving items are playful enough to put a smile on your April-Foolish face, but sophisticated and functional enough for use any day of the year. Trump your guests with a little trompe l'oeil when you keep reading.
We wanted to know which kitchen store had you drooling over pots and pans, mixers and measuring cups, and one store clearly came out on top. You chose Williams-Sonoma as your fave one-stop-shop for all things kitchen! In addition to carrying food prep supplies and edible offerings, the chain provides us with seasonal recipes like lamb chops with mint-pistachio pesto and happy hour cocktails like this gin and lemon concoction. You had plenty of opinions about the year's best (and worst) fast food chains, so I'd like to know how you feel about kitchenware stores as well. What's your preferred place to score quality appliances, cooking equipment, servingware, and specialty foods for a good value?

As part of our Best of 2008 coverage, we asked you where you like to shop for kitchen supplies. Williams-Sonoma was the clear winner with 39 percent of the vote. YumSugar and I agree with you readers: we love Williams-Sonoma too! Not only does Williams-Sonoma have an amazing selection of quality kitchenware, but it also publishes must-read cookbooks. In November we were lucky enough to score the ultimate Thanksgiving giveaway thanks to our friends at Williams-Sonoma. The store recently launched a wine club that I look forward to checking out in 2009. What do you love about Williams-Sonoma?
I recently spent the weekend at my friend Laura's house on the strand in Hermosa Beach. To thank her for a fabulous time, I want to send her a useful kitchen item. I asked you to help me find the perfect gift. You looked for kitchen items that have seaside accents, beachy colors, or an ocean theme. You saved your discoveries in the Yum Market on TeamSugar with the keyword tag, Beach Kitchen. I love these seafood oil drizzlers that Ninotchka bookmarked. Laura and her family can fill these pourers with organic olive oil, aged balsamic vinegar, and homemade vinaigrettes. Nice find!
