News flash! July is Lasagna Awareness Month. Personally, I question why this oven-baked dinner special is being honored in the middle of Summer.

Either the people at Part Select — an online part store for major appliances — want to show you what you can do with your dishwasher, or they're hoping you'll do it and break it in the process. At least, that is what I assume was the logic behind their recipe for Dishwasher Lasagna Florentine. That's right, you make the lasagna in a dishwasher. Usually I consider lasagna to be a very time consuming recipe: the sauce has to be made, the cheese mixture combined, and the meat cooked before you even think about layering and baking it in the oven. However with a few simple modifications — substitute the meat with lots of veggies, buy premade pasta sauce, and use no boil lasagna noodles — lasagna can be a delicious, quick meal. HBO's Flight of the Conchords has to be one of my favorite new shows. Each episode contains several spoof songs, and are always hilarious. The season just ended, but the songs are living on in my head. Recently I couldn't get the song, "I'm Not Cryin'" out of my head. Especially the line where Brett says, "I'm making a lasagna... for one."
All week long my thoughts have been plagued with individual lasagnas. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it out of my head. Over and over and over again, "I'm making a lasagna..." I think the only way I'll be able to get this song out of my head is to make myself a lasagna for one.
