What Do You Make of Oversized Food?

Happy Friday, and happy National Lollipop Day!

Happy Friday, and happy National Lollipop Day! In honor of the occasion, See's Candies constructed the world's largest lollipop in San Francisco's Justin Herman Plaza this morning. The candy on a stick — standing in at 16 feet, 7 inches tall and a whopping 7,003 pounds — was declared the world's largest lollipop by Guinness World Records.

After hearing about the feat, the first thought that came to mind was, "What flavor is it, and who's eating it?" In case the color doesn't give it away, it's chocolate — but if you're hoping for a hunk, then you're out of luck. The lolly will be on display for the next couple days, only to be disposed of by a local recycling company thereafter. I love the idea of oversized food, but I always wish there was a way to put the food to practical use!

What's your take on it?

Fashion Logo Lollipops: Love It or Hate It?

Are you a sucker for high-end fashion brands?

Are you a sucker for high-end fashion brands? I am and I'm not afraid to admit that yes, I covet the classic quilted Chanel handbag with interlocking C logo. However, I'm not sure how I feel about these logo lollipops. Artist Massimo Gammacurta created these designer suckers (that come in a variety of flavors) based on the symbolic initials of the world's most luxurious brands.

What do you think of these outrageous pops? Do you prefer caramel Yves Saint Laurent or grape Gucci?

Suck On This: Today is National Lollipop Day

Today is National Lollipop Day, but instead of just giving you a rundown of lollipops and sending you on your way, I thought it would be fun to see just how far the lollipop has gone.

Today is National Lollipop Day, but instead of just giving you a rundown of lollipops and sending you on your way, I thought it would be fun to see just how far the lollipop has gone. What is usually just thought of as a bit of hard candy on the end of a stick, is in fact, a much larger culinary trend. These days it seems that anything round and placed on the end of a stick can be considered a lollipop. From foie gras to cupcakes and everything in between, here's a roundup of my favorite non-candy lollipops:

Off With Their Heads Lollipops

If you were one of those weird kids who liked chewing on your dolls, then you're in luck.

If you were one of those weird kids who liked chewing on your dolls, then you're in luck. These watermelon flavored Sigmund Freud Head Pops will bring you right back to first grade - although I'm not quite sure what Freud would actually say about the whole thing. After all, I'm sure there's some sort of metaphor waiting there... Each lollipop is 2 1/4 inches tall with a 4-inch plastic stick. I think it'll look really odd in your mouth, but I think the display box of 24 candy Sigmund Freuds is even odder. Oh and if you're not into Freud, you could opt for Marie Antoinette (hence my ridiculous clever title) or Abraham Lincoln instead. Box of 24 lollipops available for $27.95.
