A Cute Vintage Cookies-and-Milk Party For Twins

"Having boy/girl twins, I wanted to create a party that had touches of masculine and feminine to represent them both but wasn't too strong in either way.

"Having boy/girl twins, I wanted to create a party that had touches of masculine and feminine to represent them both but wasn't too strong in either way. This can be very tricky!" says mom and interior, floral, and event designer Kimberly Francom. Kimberly started with a gender-neutral cookies-and-milk theme and added in both girlie and boy-friendly elements. "I used small doses of ruffles, lace, fresh florals, and coral, balanced with burlap, neutral tones, and distressed crates," she says. The result is a vintage, rustic party full of DIY details that would appeal to any cookie-loving child (e.g. all children)! Keep clicking for all the details.

How to Keep Cookie Frosting Clean and Organized

When I was at Martha Stewart's Milk and Cookies party at the Food Network's New York City Wine and Food Festival, I picked up a great tip from the cookie decorating experts. To keep frosting clean and organized, the staff at Martha Stewart Living fill disposable clear frosting bags with different colors of icing. Then they place each one in a glass tumbler. That way your kitchen table won't get covered in oozing frosting. To ensure that the frosting doesn't plop out the back of the bag, they seal each one closed with a rubber band. The next time I'm decorating cookies, I'm definitely doing this!

A Milk and Cookies First Birthday Party

A first birthday not only marks a lil one's transition from infant to toddler, but for many tots, it is when they are introduced to cow's milk and more table food. To celebrate my son's one-year milestone, we built a party theme around his first taste of ice-cold milk and his first bite of sugar. Using Amy Atlas's dessert tables as inspiration, we created a milk and cookies bar to the delight of both our older and younger invitees. Check out all of the lil details.

Milk and Cookies With Martha Stewart

Besides an assortment of savory bites and lots of meatballs, another thing I consumed in massive quantities at the Food Network New York City Wine and Food Festival was cookies.

Besides an assortment of savory bites and lots of meatballs, another thing I consumed in massive quantities at the Food Network New York City Wine and Food Festival was cookies. On Saturday morning, I gathered with eager kids and their attentive parents for an event entitled Milk and Cookies hosted by Martha Stewart. Over 15 of New York's top bakeries and pastry chefs set up tables with every type of cookie imaginable.

Guests were invited to enjoy as many cookies as they wanted and the Manhattan Milk Company poured a never-ending supply of milk. Stewart debuted her new cookie iPad app and was followed around by a video crew documenting the event. The best part of the soiree were the crafting tables where children could decorate and package cookies using Martha Stewart's craft tools.
