MSucre needs our help! She contacted me asking for advice on what to make her unadventurous meat-centric boyfriend for dinner. Here's what she had to say:
I really love trying new food. But my boyfriend is a pretty picky eater. We have dinner together almost every night of the week. We're both grad students, so eating out isn't really an option. But we have totally different tastes and I'm looking to expand beyond the same old stuff. I'm usually able to make something that appeals to the two of us (quiche, tacos, soups), but now that it's Summer, I find myself wanting to eat more fresh veggies and less meat which is something that he does not appreciate. I am looking for ways to introduce (mostly green) vegetables to someone who has an aversion to them. I would love recipe suggestions that appeal to both a refined and limited palette. Can you think of anything?? I know a lot of couples who don't eat together or cook separate meals, but then it just feels like we're college roommates. Sharing meals is very important to me — more important than broccoli. Any help you could give is much appreciated!
I recommend that she compromises with a familiar dish, say burgers, made with a healthier less common ingredient, like salmon. Do you have a boyfriend with a different diet? What's your advice for dealing with his needs? What should she make?
