Guy Fieri Nation Expands to Include Barbecue Sauces and Salsa

With a gaggle of TV shows, books, restaurants, and endorsements under his belt, it's hard to imagine what else could be on the horizon for Guy Fieri.

Guy Fieri Salsas and Barbecue SaucesWith a gaggle of TV shows, books, restaurants, and endorsements under his belt, it's hard to imagine what else could be on the horizon for Guy Fieri. But at this week's Winter Fancy Foods Show, we managed to find out. The man himself was there to launch his first-ever line of supermarket condiments. While we didn't spot him in person, we did get to check out his barbecue sauces and salsas.

Fieri's salsas come in four flavors (Original Salsa, Salsa Verde, Chipotle Salsa, and 4 Pepper), as do his sauces, which are available in Kansas City, Bourbon Brown Sugar, Pacific Rim, and Carolina #6. We enjoyed the original and salsa verde salsas and the classic Kansas City barbecue sauce.

Whether we like it or not, it's only a matter of time before Guy's shaded, sun-bleached visage takes over the country, one mass-produced bottle at a time.

Celebrate Cinco De Mayo With Rick Bayless's Salsas

If you are planning a fiesta for this Cinco de Mayo, don’t forget to do it right and make a fresh salsa to scoop onto your tacos.

If you are planning a fiesta for this Cinco de Mayo, don’t forget to do it right and make a fresh salsa to scoop onto your tacos. Instead of picking up a jar of salsa at the store, I was inspired by Rick Bayless, the master of Mexican cuisine, to make some authentic salsas.

First and foremost, prepackaged salsa could never be as complex as the three salsas I made: tomatillo-orange, roasted tomato, and habanero hot sauce. The first two could easily be enjoyed with chips, but the habanero was much too hot to consume by itself. To really test out these salsas, I put them on a couple pork tacos with avocado, sour cream, and lime juice.

I can only imagine how wonderful these would be with Party's slow-cooker carnitas. All three salsas were very different in flavor and turned a simple taco into something truly extraordinary. See the tasty tacos I made and the outstanding salsa recipes by reading more.

Pineapple Adds Fruity Pizzazz to Fresh Salsa

Last weekend I had one of those culinary "why didn't I think of that?"

Last weekend I had one of those culinary "why didn't I think of that?" moments. My dad and I hosted a barbecue and my cousin's contribution was salsa. But not just any old salsa, a perfectly balanced crunchy and creamy pineapple salsa! While pineapple is common in salads, I couldn't believe I had never tried it in salsa with salty chips on the side. It was absolutely fabulous and everyone could not get enough, myself included. Since the salsa is chunky and on the heavier side, it's important to serve it with thick, hard chips. Pair with margaritas and you've got a Cinco de Mayo party in the making! A Condiment Worth Making: Chimichurri

When I went to South America, I made it my mission to find an amazing chimichurri recipe.

When I went to South America, I made it my mission to find an amazing chimichurri recipe. The green paste-like sauce is Argentina's most popular condiment. An essential topping for grilled meat, the sauce is incredibly easy to make and much more delicious than anything that comes out of a bottle.

Since Memorial Day is this weekend, I thought you might be interested in experimenting with my recipe. After tasting chimichurri at countless restaurants, I came across this variation at a packed parilla. I begged the waiter for the recipe and wrote it down on a napkin that I still have. To experiment with this scrumptious sauce — it's delicious on grilled fish, chicken, or even vegetables — read more
