Odd Shaped Straws: Kid Friendly or Are You Kidding?

Do these fun straws throw you for a loop?

Do these fun straws throw you for a loop? Kentucky mother, Andrea Bailey was beyond bothered when the box of straws she bought for her 3-year-old daughter, Ashlynn contained some that resembled penises.

She told her local news station, WSAZ:

“There are two of them that are shaped like the male private area,” said Bailey. “I called Wal-Mart and they very rude with me about it. They acted like I was lying, like I was making it all up. You know, I would never make something up like that, especially about my little girl. But, that's just how they treated me and it’s just not right.”

Though Wal-Mart pulled the product from its shelves and offered the mom a refund, she said it's not about the money, but she wants to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Do you agree with this mama's stance or think she's overreacting?

Ridiculously Simple Tip: Straws & Soda Cans

I don't drink a lot of soda, but every now and then, the crisp bubbly beverage sounds great.

I don't drink a lot of soda, but every now and then, the crisp bubbly beverage sounds great. Last week I broke down and decided to get one from the kitchen, my gal FabSugar was doing the same thing and we ended up chatting about sodas and straws. That's when Fab did something that totally blew my mind. When she opened up her soda, she pushed the tab forward and shoved the straw through the top tab opening. Voila! Instant straw holder. Although I love to use straws (especially with soda), I hate the way that they bob around, and sort of float when in a soda can. Well, with this ridiculous "gee, why didn't I think of that before?" trick, I don't have to worry about that anymore. I was so excited by it, that I rushed out of the kitchen and shared it with everyone who would listen. A few others (well mostly just geeksugar) were super excited too, and I figured hey if a few of us were interested in this tip, maybe a few of you might be too. So enjoy and pass it on!

Add Some Flavor to Your Milk

For some reason, I surprisingly don't know that many people who actually drink milk.

For some reason, I surprisingly don't know that many people who actually drink milk. They either don't like the flavor or the texture or both. For those of you that also don't like the flavor of milk, I have found something that may change your mind: flavored straws. The folks over at UniStraw have created not one but two new ways to drink milk - Mai'a (iced coffee straws) and Sipahh (milk flavoring straws in 4+ flavors). Both brands are essentially straws filled with special flavor beads that dissolve as you sip milk through the straw. The beads mix with the milk creating the flavor combo. I guess if you're into chocolate milk (or strawberry, banana, cookies & cream or coffee), it'll be a perfect thing to have on hand.
