Whimsical, playful, comical, eccentric — all ways to describe giving into fanciful notions. Polka dots, bows, sequins, animals, and ruffles are all ways to amuse yourself. I have been in a whimsical fashion mood lately — perhaps Louis Vuitton's bunny ears, coupled with Mary-Kate and Ashley's lace ears, spawned it. And it's so much fun! I encourage all you fashion fans to dabble from time to time. Just one disclaimer: limit your whimsical item to one or two at a time, unless you to want to scream fashion freak.
Here's Looking at You Kid!
I recently asked one of our amazing interns to check out ShopStyle Living, where she noticed loads of kitchen accessories with faces on them. Since it seems like we can never get enough whimsy, I asked her to put together a list of all the ones she thought were fun. From bar tools to trash cans, she found some amazingly cute products. Don't you just want one of these adorable honey bear plates ($36 for set of 4)? To get whimsical, scroll through her collection below.
Octopus Juicer and Squid Scrub Brush: Love Them or Hate Them?
Among the many unique products Urban Outfitters has right now, I was glad to see that happy mundane pointed out both this Octopus Juicer ($14) and this Squid Scrub Brush ($8). I know that a lot of you like whimsical kitchen accessories, and so I wondered what you thought of these little guys? Would you want them in your kitchen?
Yum Market Finds: Young at Heart
I'm not sure why, but it seems like my friends and I are constantly hunting for things that make us recall our youth and feel like kids again. I'd say that it was unique to us, but when I was going through the Yum Market it was pretty obvious that we're not the only ones. Do you remember the Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine? TeamSugar member amh678 bookmarked this cultural icon and it, along with all the other things below, are whisking me back to my youth.
Yum Market Finds: Whimsical Wonderland
One of my favorite things about the Yum Market is checking out all these great whimsical items that make me feel like a kid. En masse, they're a bit "too much," but can you imagine just one of these poking out in a grown up house? Cute little mushroom salt and pepper shakers would look adorable on a formal table. And tea time with butterflies? Oh my! What about whipping up a regal cake with a little ladybug spatula to keep you company? Scroll through the list to discover some of the whimsical things you guys have been bookmarking:

Qubus "Sommelier" Wineglasses: Love It Or Hate It?
I found these expensive wineglasses that look like cheap disposable plastic cups on stilts. They're called "sommelier" and are handblown in the Czech Republic by Maxim Velcovsky for Qubus Design Studio. A single glass will cost £25 (about $50). On one hand I think they're quite cheeky, but on the other, I think they're rather ridiculous (not to mention expensive). What about you, what do you think?
Twirl It!
Sometimes I wonder how inventions like this one keep getting made.
This particular device is called the Twirling Spaghetti Fork and well ladies and gentlemen, it does just that. It's a motorized fork that twirls spaghetti. I just keep thinking about what if you put it in your mouth and somehow it kept twirling? Talk about unpleasant. However, I'm sure if you had a friend, or a kid (although you'd probably want to supervise them), that is really into spaghetti, it would probably make a nice gag gift. It'll set you back $8.99, plus the cost of two AAA batteries.
