Hawaii: Spam Musubi

Spam was introduced to Hawaii during World War II and became the staple meat for military troops. The Japanese in the area developed Spam musubi, or a thin slice of grilled Spam molded over rice and wrapped with a nori sheet. Convenient and inexpensive, the snack gained popularity and is still widely found and eaten in Hawaii.
