This Summer, White Castle, home of the original slider, is turning the ripe old age of 88. To celebrate, the oldest hamburger chain in America wants you to swing by for a free slider — regardless of your White Castle IQ. To get a free mini hamburger, simply print out this coupon and redeem it anytime through July 12. Since these classic hamburgers are one of my favorite fast-food items of all time, I can't help but smile with glee.
Although the fact is, with their fluffy steamed buns, tender ground beef patties, savory onions, and crunchy pickles, it's impossible to stop at just one slider — you'll be bound to pick up more. Will you get in on White Castle's free deal this month?
This week I'm planning the ultimate high school graduation party. Most high schools host a grad night after the ceremony where students get to celebrate together one last time. To ensure that they won't miss the festivities at either the grad night or their family's gathering, throw the personal party in the days following the graduation. The majority of graduates will have some sort of get together, and guests may be party-hopping, so take that into consideration when selecting a menu. Instead of offering a formal, sit-down dinner, opt for heavy appetizers or a casual, make-ahead buffet. This menu consists of comforting, simple, kid-friendly party food.
You can't go wrong with classics like seven-layer dip with tortilla chips and ranch dip with crudites. Pressed mozzarella and tomato sandwiches get more flavorful over time, and beef sliders with cheese and spicy mayonnaise are hearty enough to satiate the football players. If you've got a serious craving for a burger, there's more than one reason to satisfy it. Not only is it almost Memorial Day, but May is also National Hamburger Month! To honor the special month, I thought it'd be appropriate to test your knowledge of the oldest hamburger chain in America, White Castle. Creator of the original slider, and the subject of the movie Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, this fast food chain also boasts a number of fun facts. Can you guess them all? Find out now.
Last month, Burger King revealed that sliders would be the newest addition to the chain's regular menu. When I sampled the fast-food company's limited-edition Angry Whopper, I tried the pint-sized versions of the chain's flame-broiled burger as well. To see what I thought of them, read more
The Super Bowl is this Sunday and to make sure you host the best blowout bash, I'll be sharing all of my ideas for an awesome party. To get things started let's talk about the menu. Before you select a bunch of dishes, think about the crowd you will be serving. Will it be mostly people who are invested in the game? A male heavy group? A mix of football fans and people who are simply there to socialize? Choose dishes that will accommodate this group. My crew falls into the last category with a variety of meat-lovers and vegetarians planning to attend.
For appetizers set up a buffet of store bought or homemade dips (guacamole, buffalo chicken dip, hummus, and artichoke crab dip are my favorites). As the main course, offer oozing grilled mozzarella sandwiches and cheesesteak sliders. No Super Bowl party is complete without a deep fried treat and guests will be delighted to snack on super crispy onion rings. To look at these recipes, read more
I've invited some friends over this Friday for a holiday cocktail party. Since everyone (including moi!) will be attending a jewelry sample sale before, the snacks must be prepared in advance. Crostini with lentil and green olive spread can be made the night before the party. My dad will bake the brie with mango chutney twenty minutes before we arrive, so it's warm and gooey the second we walk in the door. A smoked salmon platter with dill sour cream waits chilled in the fridge and mini beef slider patties cook quickly.

This week I'm planning a Moroccan-themed dinner. All of my friends will be attending a big birthday bash on Saturday night, so I thought it would be fun to get together early and have a delicious dinner. Instead of sending invitations, I've called everyone to personally invite them to dinner.
The menu is simple and flavor-packed. To get the party started, I'll serve mini Moroccan lamb burgers with lemon yogurt sauce and Moroccan carrot goat cheese sandwiches with green olive tapenade. The main course will consist of a fragrant Moroccan chicken potato salad with olives.

The turkey sliders I was drooling over the other day pale in comparison to these honey scallion sliders with sharp white cheddar cheese. Served on a mini potato roll, these beef burgers look mouth wateringly marvelous. — Not Eating Out in New York
For some strange reason, I don't like burgers, but I love sliders. A slider is a miniature burger so it is odd that I dislike one while enjoying the other. Yet, there is something so deliciously appealing about a bite-sized burger — especially when topped with melted cheese and slathered with spicy mustard like this version. A quick potato salad — made with oil and vinegar instead of mayonnaise — completes this satisfying meal. For the recipes, read more
