The mutilation of food in eating contests is hot debate in the competitive eating circuit. The biggest professional organization allows the molecular 'adjustment' of food during the contest (like dipping bread-like properties into a liquid), but smaller amateur organizations require that contestants use 'picnic rules' which means the food has to be eaten the way it is eaten in life, with no manipulation of the molecular stability of the ingredients.
