The way they ate the buns (dipped in water) was the thing that did me in. I will never look at a hot dog bun as a normal piece of food.

The mutilation of food in eating contests is hot debate in the competitive eating circuit. The biggest professional organization allows the molecular 'adjustment' of food during the contest (like dipping bread-like properties into a liquid), but smaller amateur organizations require that contestants use 'picnic rules' which means the food has to be eaten the way it is eaten in life, with no manipulation of the molecular stability of the ingredients. And yes, I know way too much about a very weird assortment of food-related things. Call me Cliff Clavin....
