Recently I attended an event where one of the food stations was offering corn on the cob. For some reason, I had no desire to try it and avoided the guy who was handing out foil-wrapped cobs at all costs. That's when I realized that while I eat corn on the cob (I prefer white corn), it's definitely not my favorite Summer side.

Still don't know what to serve on Sunday? How about grilled red, white, and blue pizzas?! This festive and fabulous idea comes from Chef Eric Lee of Simi Winery's Landslide Terrace Pizza Cafe in Healdsburg, CA.

Happy (almost) long weekend! In the City by the Bay, the sun's shining, skies are fair, and it looks like it'll be perfect weather for busting out the barbecue. Which brings me to an important question: what will you be eating over the holiday?

It's easy to decorate for the Fourth of July: use the colors red, white, and blue. Stars and stripes are fun too. Cover your table with a classic, all-American navy checkered tablecloth.

Kick-start your long weekend with a grilled steak and potato dinner. Served with a thick chimichurri-style parsley sauce, this classic combination is far from boring. Instead of regular potatoes, the recipe calls for sweet potatoes.

There's nothing better than hot dogs, corn on the cob, and watermelon for the Fourth. But if you're in search of an adventure and a more creative way to celebrate, might I suggest scoping out the country's regional food scene? Whether you're in Cincinnati or Central Texas, the United States of America is a veritable chest of gastronomic treasures just waiting to be discovered.

No Fourth of July party is complete without a red, white, and blueberry dessert. Instead of serving a dish that requires last minute preparation, select something like a layered trifle. The longer the whipped cream, mixed berries, and liquor-soaked bread sit, the better the trifle will taste.

The July Fourth holiday doesn't just mean a nice, long weekend; it also foreshadows a number of awesome barbecue cook-offs across America. The pitmaster rules Independence Day, so you can't go wrong getting your fill of ribs, whether it's at Lake Placid's I Love BBQ Festival or Naperville's Ribfest in the outskirts of Chicago.
Tonight, we'll be at a World Cup cocktail championship featuring our favorite local bartenders.
