A low-key, laid-back week is exactly what the doctor ordered, especially before another raucous holiday hits home. Enjoy a cold one in Tempe, AZ, and Bryan, TX — or, if you're in the Midwest, learn about crafting maple syrup at the National Maple Syrup Festival. This weekend, the T-minus one week countdown to Halloween begins. If you aren't too busy planning your fright night agenda and costume, take the time to hit up some of this month's biggest events, like Chicago's Champagne fête or the annual Kohler Food & Wine Experience. My first question, of course, is why a Navajo Taco — also called an Indian Taco — is considered a sandwich rather than a taco.

By now you must have heard that Starbucks is closing 600 of its stateside coffee shops. Last week Starbucks released the official list of the closing stores with a grand total of 616 closures. The closing stores are company-operated stand alone locations; no bookstore, super market, or airport Starbucks will be shuttered.
