Fab Style Challenge: A Weekend on the Lake

We're ready for a warm-weather weekend on a lake. The kind of weekend spent in a rustic cabin, taking hikes, roasting marshmallows, trying to canoe and going swimming instead, and dressing down in comfy-chic, almost-ready-to-rough-it clothes. Think warm days, cool nights. Are you up to the task of packing our weekender bag? Here's how:
1. Go to ShopStyle, and sign up for a free account. If you already have a PopSugar account then there's no need to sign up.
2. Shop away. Hover over the item you want and click "Favorite," so it goes into your Stylebook.
3. Ready to style? Go to your Stylebook and click "Create a Look." Drag and drop the pieces you want. Make it look pretty.
4. Save it, then click "Share Look," then "Blog It."

When it comes to medical opinions, it's sometimes wise to get a second one, which is what I am asking of you, oh wise FitSugar readers. A fan of Dr. Oz, I watched his show the other day where he mapped out a 28-day plan to rid one of his audience members of her 12-sodas-a-day drinking habit. A cola junkie, she seemed excited about their plan to walk away from the bubbly drinks, but I'm just not sure I'm buying his month-long program.

The crisp Autumn air has many families heading to orchards to pull some apples off the trees. This annual rite of Fall has tots literally hanging from the branches, as they reach for the perfect piece of fruit. After an afternoon of apple picking with my family, we're working our way through a variety of apple recipes, trying to use up our bushel before they rot. We've already made:

Readers Sound Off on the Responsibilities They'd Give Up!

Mom's to-do list never seems to end. When we asked our readers which responsibilities they would farm out if they could, the responses came in. Though Facebook fan Jennifer Combs-Geiger said she wouldn't change a thing, "Kids are only little once so I'm going to enjoy every moment while it lasts," others were quick to give up a job or two!

Laundry: From an Anonymous reader who said she doesn't "mind putting it in the wash, but I hate switching loads, folding and putting it away!" to Facebook fan Laura Bovington, mamas seem overloaded with dirty clothes.
Cleaning: Carri was quick to say, "See ya later, toilet scrubbing!" And many of us couldn't agree more!
Potty Training: Giving up diapers for good has never been an easy task. Twitter follower smartypantzed said she'd gladly give up "wiping my [newly potty trained] son's bum," while Facebook fans Audrey O'Donnell Nunez and Sarah Z Siddiqui also mentioned the toddler duty.
Cooking: Facebook fan Pallavi Thakur Dinesh would be happy to have help "Cooking delicious healthy food that everyone will eat!"
Diaper Duty: While some mamas aren't anticipating the messes that come with potty training, others are ready to give up changing the diapers. strollerdiva said, "I would definitely let someone else change the diapers!"

Farming Out a Mother's Responsibilities

Motherhood is the most important job in the world. And like any job, it comes with a never-ending list of responsibilities. While some mamas revel in every meal they make and diaper they change, others would gladly pass up such chores in favor of other activities. In my case, I'd happily turn over my laundry and bottle washing duties, if someone were to offer and would never miss them.

How Do You Perform Outside of Your Comfort Zone?

A friend of mine is looking to step up at work, and with a couple of new openings, it looks like it's going to be possible. In fact, she's pretty ambitious about it. Even though one of the availabilities requires a whole new approach to her job, she's been meeting with colleagues, brushing up on her stuff, and getting really psyched for the different aspects the new job requires. Part of it is a lot of traveling, meeting new people, and interacting with the company's other offices around the country - but she doesn't seem intimidated in the least.

When we got to talking, she shared that she's actually a person who thrives on change, and she's always looking to change up things when she can. Especially professionally, she's kind of an adrenaline junkie - loves being outside of the run of the mill, day to day grind, interacting with company executives, preparing presentations, and traveling to represent the company. Personally, I'm pretty happy right where I am, but I definitely understand the appeal of changing things up at work, and when there's something new going on at the office it's always exciting. What about you? How do you perform outside of your comfort zone on the job - do you thrive off of the excitement and energy or do you prefer a more predictable day to day?

If you cook in a tiny, big-city kitchen, be prepared: what I'm about to show you might make you jealous. Recently, I asked everyone to share their kitchens in the Savory Sights group in the YumSugar Community, and here we have our first enviable kitchen!

TulaneJeff lives in New Orleans where he has a modest-sized kitchen with lovely green walls and black granite countertops. It's expertly organized with matching storage jars and neat stacks of white plates.
