If you're not from Texas — or a few other choice towns across America — you may have never had the pleasure of eating a kolache. A Central European pastry iconic across the Lone Star State, the kolache is prized for its soft, pillowy dough and its versatility: kolache fillings range from the sweet (apricot, prunes, and poppy seeds) to the savory (sausages). And some fillings, like cheese, even possess qualities of both.

For weeks I was looking forward to attending Serious Eats Great American Food and Music Fest at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. With big-name celebrity chefs like Bobby Flay and Guy Fieri, and the best of America's regional cuisine — Katz's pastrami sandwiches, Pink's hot dogs, Tony Luke's Philly cheesesteaks, etc. — it was sure to be a fabulous festival.

From Dr Pepper to pork to Philly cheesesteaks, this week's noteworthy nibbles seem to pay homage to time-honored American food traditions. We can't wait for the first ever Great American Food & Music Fest in Silicon Valley, which will feature guests like Bobby Flay and Guy Fieri, as well as famous regional specialties from all across the United States. For last night's Sunday Dinner, I taught you all how to make my mom's Beef Stir Fry. If you doubled the batch, or were only cooking for one or two, you probably have some leftovers. You could just heat it back up, and eat it again tonight, but if you did, you would miss out on the main reason I love this dish.

For last night's Sunday Dinner, I taught you all how to make my mom's Beef Stir Fry, if you doubled the batch (or were only cooking for one or two), you probably have some leftover. You could just heat it back up, and eat finish it off tonight, but if you did, you would miss the main reason I love this dish. You see, this dish makes for the best (and I mean best), sandwich.
