To spice lovers like myself, chicken curry is the ideal, all-purpose meal. It's a well-balanced, relatively fast, one-pot dinner with loads of personality. For guests who don't go for the fiery factor, I simply cut down on the number of spices and chiles; when I'm cooking for myself, I'll take the dish a few notches higher on the Scoville scale.

When the weather is cold and stormy, cooking a fragrant and exotic meal is a delicious way to awaken your senses. A chicken curry, rich with lemongrass and ginger, is an excellent dish that will tantalize your tastebuds. The thick smell will warm your kitchen and the colorful sweet potatoes and carrots will brighten your plate.

I love both tuna and chicken salad, but I don't like any sweet stuff encroaching on tuna. Chicken salad, on the other hand, is well-served by fruit and nuts. One of my favorite recipes is this curry-flavored version made with red grapes, green onions, and walnuts, which combine to make an exciting and exotic filling for Middle Eastern-style flatbreads or pita.Better yet, this chicken salad is actually healthy: it's made with nonfat yogurt and lowfat mayonnaise.

My sister is on the cover of a fabulous new book called Change the World For Ten Bucks. The idea behind the book — which is written by an organization called We Are What We Do — is small actions multiplied by lots of people equals big change. Basically if everyone stops using plastic bags and recycles more, the world will be a better place!

In a continued effort to detox after a serious day of gluttony this past weekend, I'm trying to lighten up on the meat and grease and focus on the vegetables. This recipe from dlmslp is just what I need — something that's more vegetables than anything else, but still full flavored. If you're looking for a hearty, impressive meal, serve it as she did — alongside girlc's fragrant chicken curry.

Although I've always been a fan of eating soup year-round, now that the weather has cooled down a bit, soup is a regular part of my meal rotation. That was my logic behind acquiring Williams-Sonoma Soup ($16.95). To see my thoughts on the cookbook, read more
