AskMen.com and Cosmopolitan teamed up to release the results of the Great Male/Female Survey. The poll of more than 80,000 men and women around the world looks at the current state of love, health, fashion, and life for both sexes. Of course, we're a bit more interested in the survey's findings on dating in a digital world.

Both men and women are nearly equally comfortable with a partner friending an ex on Facebook. Forty-four percent of men say this is fine, and 40 percent of women are not bothered with exes keeping in touch.
More of the surveyed women are tempted to read a partner's Facebook messages or emails. Twenty-nine percent of women would not peek at this correspondence, compared to the 36 percent of men who refuse to look at private messages.
Online dating? Sure! Only 37 percent of men and 44 percent of women would completely rule out the prospect of finding a mate through a matchmaking website.

With the intricacies of digital life, social networks, and online dating moving into the mainstream, perhaps it's now OK to make this assumption: both men and women are looking at tech life through the same (digital) lens.

Cameron is clearly having fun with this new phase of her career but also gets reflective in her Cosmopolitan interview when she talks about her relationship with Alex Rodriguez, her thoughts on marriage, and what she's learned now that she's 38 years old. She says: "I think you get better as you age. You know what you want, and you become stronger mentally, emotionally, and physically . . . But also, things have happened recently that have pushed me to grow. My father died, and having gone through that really made me think about my life and how I want to live it."

She was the only woman to get an award during the guy-centric event, saying, "This is going to be very exciting. I'm looking forward to it." She traded her Oscars glamour for something more masculine, turning out in an all-white pantsuit that Russell joked made her look "like Tom Hanks in Big." Her Forgetting Sarah Marshall costar Russell was the man accepting the night's biggest honor from the magazine, and he sent a special tweet to his wife, Katy Perry, saying he did his makeup in her honor. Katy couldn't attend the event since she's off touring Europe, but she and Russell were able to meet up last week in LA. The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder was another of the hotties who turned out for the bash, along with Penn Badgley and Isaiah Mustafa.

Is Cosmo's Crime Just Not Changing With Times?

Cosmo magazine was the guest of honor Monday night when celebrities, the media, and pro-choice people who attend galas gathered to celebrate the pill's 50th birthday. Its magazines covered the walls, and its editor spoke but not before comedienne Samantha Bee took a stab at the old rag. It's the "publisher of all the hard news that other magazines are afraid to touch," she said. "Like, 'The Dumbest Thing You Can Do to Your Boobs.' And 'Are You Enough of a Bad Girl?'"

We've already discussed how Helen Gurley Brown turned Cosmo into feminism for the working girl in the '60s. She advised women to use their looks to get ahead, because that was better than the alternative of depending on men. She had a point, but it's no longer valid.
