Get Smart Tea Towels

With the forthcoming arrival of my favorite season of the year (summer) I'm getting ready to spend a lot of time over at my grandfather Al's house. He has an amazing pool and a fabulous kitchen to cook in: it's super open, always clean, and has two ovens. However when I go to clean up after cooking, he never has any nice dishtowels - which can be mildly frustrating. That's why I've asked you to help me by finding Al some new dishtowels. I told you I wanted towels that were durable and simple. No hearts and nothing too girly. You searched for block colors and nautical accents and saved the towels in the Yum Market on TeamSugar with the keyword tag, Dishtowels. Al can use these sturdy green stripped towels for everyday use. These practical towels were found by wiggle that said she bought them for a bachelor friend and he loves them. Sounds like they'll be perfect for my bachelor of all bachelors grandfather!

Vuittonish found these muted colored plain dishtowels. It's always good to have a variety of different fabrics with your dishtowels. These will work well for hand drying wine and martini glasses.

During the spring and summer, my mom and I like to go over to my grandfather Al's house to tan and swim in his pool. He lives in the East Bay and often times it is 10-15°F warmer at his house than it is at ours. When we head over to Al's house, we stop at the store for the fixings for a lovely dinner. I love cooking in his kitchen because it's super open, always clean, and has two ovens. However when I go to clean up after cooking, he never has any nice dishtowels. As purchasing linens for the kitchen is hardly a task that a bachelor like him should have to partake in, I want to get him a whole bunch of new towels. The towels should be durable and simple. To celebrate St. Patrick's Day and the arrival of Spring, I've decided to add some green accents to my kitchen decor. I asked you to help me search for green - in color or state of mind - accessories. I was very surprised by the overwhelming amount of cool green kitchenware! I love the artistic Dom Perignon Champagne cooler. What I don't love is the $1000 price tag.

Simple Tip: Easily Peel Peaches

If you're planning on cooking with peaches (like I did with the peach puzzle), you'll want to peel them first. Cooking causes the skin to become rough and the texture could be unappetizing in pies, etc. However peeling peaches seems like an messy task. Ripe peaches are soft and delicate and prone to bruising. Luckily there's an easy way to get around it.

Bring a pot of water to boil (enough to submerge the peach fully - see note).
Using a slotted spoon, dip peach for 30-45 seconds.
Transfer immediately to a waiting ice water bath (again, enough to submerge peach fully).
You should now be able to easily pull the skin off with your hands. Some people prefer to use a paring knife, but I prefer hands. You can also give it a quick rub with a dishtowel or paper towel. If the skin does not come off easily, repeat the process.

Note: The picture shown does not have enough water and resulted in having to continuously rotate the peach.

This method also works well for nectarines, plums and tomatoes.
