Fab Redux: Still Going Green Yesterday may have been Earth Day, but I'm all for going green 365 days a year. Sometimes I take the phrase very literally, like with this pretty, vintage silk floral top ($32), but it's all about the mindset, right? Besides, I'm killing two birds (oh no I didn't) with one stone: The top will look Fab tucked into a high-waisted skirt, and wearing vintage is more eco-friendly than buying something new.

Fabworthy: Eco T-shirts Whilst researching for Earth Day yesterday I came across many eco t-shirts raising money for a variety of causes. A lot of them feature funky prints on a plain background which is perfect for Spring/Summer with similar styles featuring at Luella and Alexander McQueen. I already told you about the Luella for Tonic Gen tees but there are also organic cotton tops and a fair trade 'Serene in green' t-shirt from Topshop's fairtrade collection.

The Scoop: Deadly Cat Poop for Sea Otters While not many of you were instantly on board with composting dog poop, I thought I'd mention some important information for those feline owners. A common parasite that kitties can get is actually very deadly to wildlife, like these adoro sea otters, when cat litter is not properly disposed! Cat feces can contain Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite that commonly gets into feline systems from eating infected rodents, birds, or other small animals.

Earth Day Movie Night: Environmental Disaster Movies Earth Day Movie Night: Environmental Disaster Movies As I was researching environmental disaster movies it was interesting to see how long this idea has been around that humans could destroy the earth simply by taking its resources for granted. Long before Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, filmmakers and fiction writers were clearly aware that manmade pollution has a chance of bringing about an apocalyptic scenario here on earth.

What Do You Do With Your Old Gadgets?

What Do You Do With Your Old Gadgets? The wild world of tech moves fast — too fast for some of us — and we're either faced with feverishly upgrading, or being the butt of the slow-moving gadget joke among friends (sample: "Zach Morris called, and he wants his cell phone back.") But we must eventually upgrade most of our tech, whether it's for speed and capability, a government mandate, or a new hot phone you can't live without. I've recycled cell phones, given my old desktop to a younger sibling, sold TVs on Craigslist, and dropped VCRs off at thrift stores. Any way you can recycle a gadget, I've done it — but I have not thrown a gadget in the dumpster in years and years.

Earth Day Movie Night: Environmental Disaster Movies As I was researching environmental disaster movies it was interesting to see how long this idea has been around that humans could destroy the earth simply by taking its resources for granted. Long before Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, filmmakers and fiction writers were clearly aware that manmade pollution has a chance of bringing about an apocalyptic scenario here on earth. So, in honor of Earth Day I present a few movies that, in their own over-the-top ways urge audiences to heed the warnings of the day lest we succumb to a future worse than what these films imagined.
