Dec 4 2008 - 3:00pm On Tuesday night I was invited to the
Gorgeous and Green benefit in San Francisco.
The event was hosted by
Global Green, an environmental nonprofit that focuses on global climate change through green initiatives. Not only did I taste an amazing
eco-friendly wine, but I also got the chance to speak with the hostess of the night, actress
Kate Bosworth.

Aw, I love Kate! She looks good & I'm glad she's involved w/this...
1I'd love to eat organic, but my budget says no.
2Important to note the distinction between "being green" and eating organic... not everyone agrees that organic farming is better for the environment. Perhaps the most eminent critic of organic farming is Norman Borlaug, the father of the “green revolution”, winner of the Nobel peace prize and an outspoken advocate of the use of synthetic fertilisers to increase crop yields. He claims the idea that organic farming is better for the environment is “ridiculous” because organic farming produces lower yields and therefore requires more land under cultivation to produce the same amount of food.

just some food for thought...
3she eats?
4aka Daria - that was what I was going to say!!!
5She looks pretty here.
6me too....does she eat????
7haha my first thought was "she eats?" also.
8Is she going to help me with my letter writing to my grocery stories in my neighborhood that do not stock organic items.
9why is she saying i have to eat organic? usually it's a worse choice for the enviroment bcause of the miles the produce travelled... i always drink organic milk, but that's it really. when i have more money i'll eat more of course, but that's only because i want to pampare myself, not for any other reason.
10I would eat organic if it didn't cost about 3 times what traditional food does. I do buy organic free trade coffee though...for whatever reason, it's cheaper than the conventional stuff at my grocery store.
11Organic - derived from plant and animal matter; yes I eat organic every day and have since birth.
12I'd love to eat organic all the time, but like others have mentioned, the cost of doing so makes it rather difficult for those of us with budgets. However, I do have an organic vegetable garden in my backyard, and love it!
13I can't believe that someone who is supposed to be a father of the green revolution would argue for synthetic fertilizers. All of those synthetic fertilizers find their way into our groundwater, and ultimately our drinking water. May make for a larger harvest, but I prefer to not be slowly poisoned with fertilizers.
