Feb 16 2007 - 6:58am There is less then 36 hours to go until my
Mardi Gras party and I believe I have everything basically under control. The
invitations were sent and the RSVP texts have been vibrating on my phone all morning (why does everyone wait until the last minute to rsvp???), my house is already set into
party mode, the
keg will be picked up in the morning, and later today I'll start making
sweet and
savory appetizers. I hope that everyone comes in the mood to dance and that is why the music is a very important part of this party.

This is where I turn on my TV; not for shows, but because the satalite has TONS of music stations. Our TV has a 'screen saver' so it kind of becomes a decoration.
1Any Clifton Chenier will get your party started. I also like Ann Savoy for a more chill cajun feel.
2I know I'm too late for this year, but if you happen to throw a Mardi Gras party next year...here are some local songs that you HAVE to have on your playlist! I'm from New Orleans, and these are some songs that you'd actually hear at a Mardi Gras parade.

"Big Chief," "Carnival Time," and "Iko Iko" are great ones you can actually listen to on that website.
But anything by Professor Longhair, Dr. John, or Benny Grunch and the Bunch will be New Orleans-esque songs that will surely add local flavor to your playlist!
3pretty beads all around, so festiv!
