Eat More Oysters, Fight Cancer?

Nov 14 2008 - 3:00am The shellfish known as the oyster has long been thought to have aphrodisiac properties, but now researchers at Louisiana State University have come up with yet another reason to eat them: they may help prevent and treat cancer. Oysters contain fat compounds called ceramides, which researchers found can restrict the growth of breast-cancer cells as well as prevent the formation of blood vessels, which inhibits cancer from spreading. In a seven-day study, cancer growth decreased by 57 percent.

I'd love to eat heaps of these slimy suckers but unfortunately due to how expensive these things are they are as elmo would say: a sometimes food. Very good for you though.

now i'm depressed..it turns out that i have just one food allergy and that is to oysters..i was soo sad when i knew it.i just love oysters,just with a bit if salt and lemon juice.my life is a little bit sadder today
