This week, I had a chance to explore the Las Vegas Winter 2012 Market. Aside from meeting fellow design bloggers, industry tastemakers, and talented designers, I had a chance to see some of my favorite brands in person and discover new ones as well. Of course, I had my camera at the ready to chronicle products and vendors that caught my eye. Here's a roundup of some of the discoveries from Las Vegas Winter 2012 Market that I'm still thinking about!

Tour Las Vegas's Most Gorgeous Beauty Boutique

One of Amsterdam's best beauty boutiques has come to the States, and the results are gorgeous. Set inside The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, a luxury resort and casino, Skins 6|2 Cosmetics stocks an astounding array of hard-to-find brands including Australian skin care line Grown, American Mortals hair care, and Maison Francis Kurkdjian fragrances. Featuring testers aplenty and friendly (but not overbearing) staff, the store is an amazing find - and, we hope, the first of many more Skins 6|2 shops to come. Read on to see some highlights.

The Vegas Odds: The Golden Globes

While I’m not a big proponent of gambling, I don’t see anything wrong with small wagers between friends and family. And with the Golden Globes around the corner, why not make things interesting and save time and energy by putting chores on the line? For example, I bet my man dirty dishes that underdog Black Swan will win for best picture. With 20 to 1 odds (or +2,000 in betting lingo) given by online Vegas sports books, if the dark thriller and highly unfavored bet jetés to victory, I win 20 instances of dishwashing from him! Tour of Beauty: Reliquary Spa in Las Vegas

I hadn't been to a Hard Rock anything since I was a kid. But the sleek, all-suite tower of the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas is a far cry from the burgers-and-guitars brand that once existed. Inside, the gorgeous Reliquary Spa is proof that Sin City can be as relaxing as it is stimulating. I was invited there for a complimentary treatment and was stunned by the luxurious space that awaited. Here's my report.

Ashton and Demi Dance (and Tweet) the Night Away in Vegas

I'm heading to Vegas soon myself, but I'm not sure I'll have as much fun as Ashton and Demi did over the weekend! Ashton's Twitter feed lit up on Friday night as he and Demi made their way to Sin City, and it hit a high point when they played their own game of guess who before taking the stage with Snoop Dogg. It looks like the couple had quite an evening tweeting, livestreaming from his iPhone 4 (which seems to be covered in a free Incase Snap case), and dirty dancing in front of the crowd, but I was especially surprised to see that Ashton doesn't use the official Twitter app on his iPhone, instead choosing to use something called Osfoora ($3).

New Cantina in Vegas Features Holographic Dancers

Hold on to your frijoles, there's a new bar in Las Vegas that isn't just offering tequila on tap, but some digital entertainment as well. Called Lolita's Cantina, this bar serves up food and liqueur, an in-house DJ to spin tunes while you grub, along with go-go dancers - real and holographic - to keep the party going. That's right - holographic dancers.

The holograms, which were created using the same technology utilized by The Gorrillaz during their 2006 Grammy performance, are made up of state of the art polymers and high definition video (and apparently look amazingly lifelike). The holograms are controlled by the DJ from his booth above the cantina, and are positioned to be the centerpiece of the club at all times of day.

I'm actually taking a trip to Vegas next month - you know I'll be stopping in to see this!

Top Chef Vegas: Episode 5

In what may be the world's first pairing of chuck wagons and ceviche, the Top Chef gang went camping this week. In 100-plus degree heat on a dusty dude ranch, the chefs prepared meals over fire pits for a group of hungry ranchers. It looked simultaneously horrible and highly entertaining.
