Most of you prefer crispy bacon to its chewy counterpart — but how about bacon in candle form instead?
Rather than oh-so-predictable bacon vodka and bacon chocolate, Rick Gresh, the chef at David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago, is serving guests bacon candles. The votives are made of rendered bacon fat and a vegetable-based wick, and as they melt, are poured over dry-aged steaks and rare scallops to impart a rich, smoked aroma.

For Halloween, Pepsi released a special limited-edition costumed can. Instead of the typical jack-o'-lanterns or orange and black theme, however, the soda company simply printed Halloween-related words like boo and ghost on the cans. Have you seen them in stores?

My latest cocktail experiment left me wondering how you felt about creepy Halloween cocktails. I settled on the eyeball highball because it seemed to be the right amount of unsettling without appearing over-the-top gruesome. I love a little eeriness, although I think certain drinks, like bloody brain shooters, border on repulsive.

On Thursday, Bravo announced a second season of Top Chef Masters. When I heard the news, I had mixed feelings. While I'm a huge fan of Top Chef, the first season of Masters seemed to drag on.

Since I require a weekly fix of tart frozen yogurt with fresh fruit, it wasn't until last week when I taste-tested Häagen-Dazs's new tart natural fro-yo that I discovered a whole contingent of co-workers can't stand the taste. What do you think of it?

Recently Neiman Marcus released its annual Christmas book, and the Internet food world was abuzz because of one item: the cupcake car.
We got another look at these crazy cars, which are $25,000 each, a couple of days ago when Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb drove them around on the Today Show.
I think they are incredibly absurd and wonder who would ever buy one.

Even though it's not my favorite holiday, there are several reasons I look forward to Halloween, and one of them is candy corn. I can find only less-than-positive words to describe the waxy, cloyingly sweet, unnaturally butterscotch-y neon-covered morsels, yet once I get started, I can't stop eating them. How do you feel about the seasonal confection?

It seems as if Guy Fieri is everywhere these days. Not only does he host three popular shows on the Food Network, but starting next month, Fieri is going on tour with a culinary demo that he describes as "food, rock n' roll, and everything they won't let me do on TV." There's talks of a reality show documenting the 21-city tour, and Fieri is also launching a line of kitchen knives — one of which is called The Dragon Dagger.

Recently, I laughed out loud while reading an article about a flu-shot clinic held at a wine bar. The wine-and-flu-shot setup got me thinking about restaurants that serve other functions along with their food. In San Francisco, you can grab a beer while you run your laundry load at Brain Wash Cafe & Laundromat, or fix your motorbike over breakfast at MotoJava.
