Top Chef News Roundup - Season 3 is coming up!

There's a bunch of Top Chef related news going on right now - timed to go with the new season I'm sure - so I thought I'd just save some time and post them all at once, here we go!

First of all, Top Chef Season 1 winner, Harold Dieterle, opened up his restaurant Perilla this weekend. His grand opening is tonight - I want to try the Okinawa Yam Dumplings and Spicy Duck Meatballs...
Good ol' Padma (TC host) is heating things up in the current issue of Maxim magazine.
Don't forget, you can chat with Marcel (TC 2) Vigneron tonight at 7pm PT.
Remember how I said to set your tivos on June 13? Well, you better make that June 6. Bravo has a mystery Episode 300, entitled "4 Star All Star" - the first number usually means the season number so what does this sneaky 4 star all star title mean?

Bravo's launching a new site called TopChefOnline.com - they're hoping it will be a year-round destination for TC fans. It will also contain a web show called "Miami Spice" featuring Elia Aboumrad (TC2).
And finally (for now), several of our fave TC faces - Judge Tom Collichio, host Padma Lakshmi, former host Katie Lee Joel, TC 2 winner Ilan Hall and guest judge Ted Allen) - were out last night at the Bon Appetit Magazine & James Beard Foundation's Chef's Night Out. I always wonder if Katie & Padma talk to one another...

Top Chef Contestant Goes in for 30 Stitches

Woah woah woah! Ladies and gentleman, people on reality TV (no matter how frustrating or annoying) are people too. No need to get all wild and violent! Sounds like someone out there needs to be reminded of that. You see, our much tormented Top Chef wannabe, Marcel Vigneron, is now emblazoned with a big scar over his left eye.

"This girl came up to me at a nightclub and asked me if I was Marcel from 'Top Chef,' " Vigneron, 26, tells Las Vegas Weekly. "The next thing I knew, this bottle struck me, and my friends had to rush me to the hospital. I needed 30 stitches."

I guess it only makes sense that budding kitchen mad scientist, Marcel "I was almost Top Chef" Vigneron, would be featured in Wired magazine. They have an online slideshow of three of his creations - The Cyber Egg (which I really want to try, but then again you all know how I feel about eggs), a Potato with Truffle Espuna and Coffee Caviar. And say what you will about Marcel, but you have to admit, it sounds intriguing. - Wired via Chow

Pack Your Knives and Ho-Ho-Holiday Special

Top Chef fans, set your TiVos! Next Thursday, Dec. 6, Bravo is airing the Top Chef Holiday Special where a handful of TC fan favorites prepare a holiday meal for our beloved judges.

The episode will feature Stephen Aspirinio and Tiffani Faison from Season One; Betty Fraser, Marcel Vigneron, and Josie Smith-Malave from Season Two; and Chris "CJ" Jacobson, Tre Wilcox, and Sandee Birdsong from Season Three. I understand how many of these folks are fan favorites, but I have to say, I'm a bit surprised by Sandee; maybe it was her fiesty ways in the Watch What Happens special?

No word on what the actual challenge is, but the episode will have the chefs going ~~head-to-head~~ knife-to-knife for a grand prize of $20,000. They'll be judged by the usual suspects - Padma Lakshmi, Tom Colicchio, Ted Allen, and Gail Simmons - who will also have input from culinary heavyweights Alfred Portale (chef of Gotham Bar and Grill), Eric Ripert (executive chef of Le Bernardin), Alan Wong, Elizabeth Falkner (executive pastry chef and owner of Citizen Cake) and Norman Van Aken.

I don't know about you guys, but I've already got my TiVo set.
