Jack in the Box has announced its plan to jump on the fast-food breakfast bandwagon with its new Breakfast Bowl, an entire, portable meal. A mix of eggs, hash browns, cheese, peppers, and meat, the dish is a "Sunday brunchworthy meal" to be "enjoyed on a weekday schedule." Jack in the Box hopes to satisfy consumers' need for a hearty breakfast on the go.

In a response to
soaring food prices, McDonald's announced yesterday that it will be
restructuring its dollar menu. This means
swapping out the dollar menu's most popular items and replacing them with less-costly offerings. The company is testing changes to its $1 bestseller, the double cheeseburger.
I'm all for getting creative and experimenting with new cocktail recipes, but this might be going too far.

Starbucks will start rolling out free WiFi access within a year to compete with McDonald's growing fan base. Although Starbucks already offers
free WiFi access to iTunes music stores, you still have to pay for the music download and any additional Internet surfing.
The competition between Starbucks and McDonald's is definitely apparent, with Starbucks adding more variety to their breakfast menu and
McDonald's offering upscale coffee.

While there are some people around
Sugar HQ that have what Yum calls a "minor French fry problem," I'm not one of them. That might be the reason why it took me so long to notice the McDonald's across the street from the office offers a WiFi connection.
Once considered a luxury, WiFi is a near staple at this point.
