I know cupcakes are trendy, but who knew they were so fashionable? For Mother's Day, fashion designer Rebecca Taylor is teaming up with Billy's Bakery on a pair of posh cupcakes. Available May 1, the Vanilla Twinkle (above) and Mocha Meow cupcakes were inspired by Rebecca Taylor's Spring/Summer 2009 runway collection.

Last Wednesday I had the fabulous opportunity to sit down with Tom Colicchio. The Top Chef judge was in San Francisco to promote his new book 'wichcraft: craft a sandwich into a meal — and a meal into a sandwich. He exudes a natural confidence and quiet intelligence and stresses the importance of using a good bread to make a sandwich.

Last week Giada De Laurentiis fourth cookbook, Giada's Kitchen ($32) hit bookshelves. The book release coincided with the relaunch of her website, Giadadelaurentiis.com. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of the glossy hardback with Tiffany-blue interior.

Last night Top Chef kicked off its new season with an All Star battle that pitted season one chefs against season two. On the season one team we had Harold, Stephen (oh how I missed his condescending smug attitude), Tiffani and Dave - surprisingly absent was Leanne, but she couldn't participate because she is now Bravo TV's food producer). The season two team consisted of fan favorite Sam, Elia, Marcel and Ilan.

Last night Fox aired the third season premiere of "Hell's Kitchen", hot shot British chef Gordon Ramsay's reality show. It was my first experience with Hell's Kitchen and what a memorable, yet traumatizing, experience it was. Why anyone in their right mind would volunteer to go into Hell's Kitchen is beyond me.

On this week's episode of Hell's Kitchen, the heat was turned up as the contestants were once again taught the importance of masterfully learning basic culinary skills. Last week it was all about frying the perfect egg and this week it was all about prepping fish. The show started off with the girls in turmoil from the recent elimination of team member Tiffani, and the boys united in their concern for the weakest link in their team, Aaron.
