Nov 26 2007 - 10:13am Last night, as I was flipping through the channels, I landed on a bizzaro-world version of Iron Chef America. It was an all-star holiday battle pitting Cat Cora and Paula Deen against Tyler Florence and Robert Irvine. Everyone was in great spirits and the holiday vibe was really ringing true.
Paula cracked me up. It was obvious that those cooking were having a blast, and that's one of the things that this show sometimes lacks. Yes, it's a 'big deal' to be there, but have some fun
for goodness sake! Using 'personalities' instead of working chefs I think let that happen this time.
(And did you see the arms on Robert Irvine?! OMG!)
I totally forgot this was going to be on last night...must be the ever-present food coma I was in this ENTIRE weekend. Can't wait to watch it though, I love some Tyler Florence cooking. Or, y'know, Tyler pretty
much doing anything.
I saw the other one that was on, R Ray and G Delaurientis which I really enjoyed but somehow I missed the holiday one. I don't have a tivo, but I'll be watching the holiday show for sure when
it's on again!
kothmia, Robert's arms totally distracted me for a while there! I wanted the girls to win, but thought the boys had it in the bag after the judging; luckily, the girls prevailed! My mom has
made Paula's cheese fudge, and I can't eat it because I can't get over the fact that it has Velveeta in it. My dad loves it, though, so it can't be too bad because he's a super picky eater!
It was awesome!!! I love all the chefs, I watch Irvine almost every day and Cora is my fave iron chef...Deen is really a breath of fresh air and so much fun to watch. I forgot it was on, but
thankfully food network is one of my first go-tos when i channel surf
All of you tivoers are going to have an awesome night tonight.
By the way, dn't microwave up popcorn to snack you. You'll be inspired for other munchies
I thought it was a little ridiculous. Did anyone else find the outcome kind of fishy? All the judges seemed to find Paula and Cat's foods cute, but too sweet, while the men's dishes were
raved about for taste. I understand the women had the edge in presentation and originality, but no way they were equal in taste!
cavorter - the whole thing was absolutely ridiculous, but I think the fact that two of the boy's dishes (bouche noel and the eggnog ice cream) didn't come together correctly hurt them. I
personally don't think the outcome was even needed, it was just one big surreal ride through food tv land.

1I tivo-ed it. But had to watch Desperate Housewives instead. I will be watching it later this week for sure!

I love, love, love Paula. She's SOOOO cute. The way that she kept baiting Robert was great. It felt like a party. I loved it.
12I loved it. However, seeing Paula and Tyler kiss on the lips was a bit disturbing.

15I'm with YumSugar and cavorter. Also, I'm not a fan of Paula Deen...she's annoying and most of the food she cooks is gross. Blech!
16I didn't know about it. We had too many things going on to even had a chance to watch any TV.
