Earlier this month we saw a behind the scenes video of The Hills star, Audrina Patridge, filming a new Carl's Jr. advertisement. The completed commercial was released yesterday. The ad is for the limited edition Teriyaki Burger and pays tribute to Patridge's amazing physique.

Following in the footsteps of Paris Hilton, Top Chef hostess, Padma Lakshmi, is the latest spokeswoman of Carl's Jr. Lakshmi appears in a new commercial that depicts her seductively eating a Western bacon hamburger.
Of the ad, Padma told People that it's "a beautiful love song to food. I think eating in itself is the act of great sensuality, so all you have to do is point the camera in the right direction."

For the second time in two years, best-selling candybar, Snickers, has found itself in the middle of a controversy surrounding their latest ad campaign. Candy company Mars has yanked the ad from UK airwaves, where it received backlash from gay-rights activists for being homophobic. The commercial featured surly '80s icon, Mr. T, berating a speed-walking man, calling him "a disgrace to the man race."

Our friends at the Food Section tipped us off to the fact that there's been a rise in the number of home insurance claims involving kitchen accidents. According to the research done by Esure — an online home insurance provider — 14 percent of the accidents involved people trying new recipes. With fast chopping, deep frying and skewering being the most common causes.

Subliminal messages in advertising are nothing new. For years there's been talk of images embedded inside of others that cause you to crave the product, or associate the product with other things. When advertisers use this technique — not that they'd ever admit to it — it's usually hidden.

I was wasting my time on checking out YouTube when I came across this video clip from Buy Me That! an old 1980s special that taught kids the tricks in advertising. In this particular clip a "makeup artist for food" — these days they would be known as a food stylist — teaches everyone how to make burgers look tasty and delicious.
