After spending the long weekend running around planning the Sex and the City screening after party, I decided to treat myself to a delicious dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. Most of my friends were out of town, so I went alone. I have no problem with eating dinner by myself, but was wondering how you feel about it, do you ever dine alone?

At a recent happy hour hosted by a friend, I found myself conveniently placed near a certain charismatic snack: rustic crisps studded with slivers of dried cranberries and roasted hazelnuts. Despite my attempts to save my appetite for dinner, I couldn't pull myself away from the crackers, which were just as habit-forming when eaten alone as they were with a slather of good goat cheese.
After a little research, I learned that Lesley Stowe's Raincoast Crisps, as they're called, hail from Canada and come in a multitude of flavors, like Raisin Pecan, Fig and Olive, and Salty Date and Almond, and are sold at many Whole Foods stores.

Do you live alone? Are you a vegetarian? If you answered yes to both of those questions, I suggest you consider this omelet for dinner tonight.

On chilly weeknights, I gravitate toward one-pot soups and stews. To make them a complete meal, I toss in beans, as they not only add a creamy quality to the meal but are also a great source of protein and fiber.
However, as wholesome as beans are, they don't have much flavor on their own.

As someone who loves the lowbrow as much as the highbrow, I eat processed American cheese more times a week than I care to admit. I'll never turn down a creamy Robiola, but I'll also never stray far from processed cheese, especially if it's on a burger or in cheese dip. I had been embarrassed about it, but recently I discovered I'm not alone in the food world.

I'm a big fan of bars, and not just for drinking. If I'm dining alone or on a date, I love to eat at a restaurant's bar. It's cozy and intimate, and I enjoy being able to place my entire meal order with the bartender.

I've been known to bake when it's late, and I'm not alone. In a recent Washington Post story, writer Lisa Yockelson waxes poetic about the pleasures and perils of baking past your bedtime. Do you indulge your hobby in the wee hours?

Lots of nights, I crave roast chicken because it's simple and intensely comforting. However, I live alone, and unless I have someone over, cooking an entire chicken seems a bit wasteful. That's why I've taken to roasting rack of lamb instead.

Last week, Party and I attended a tasting showcasing winners of this year's San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The high moment of the day occurred when I got a taste of something I've been dying to try: sweet tea-flavored vodka made by South Carolina-based Firefly Distillery. I'm a fiend for Southern cuisine, and that includes sweet tea, a drink so ubiquitous that it's just referred to as "tea."

There are hundreds of spinach salads out there, but this recipe is my current obsession. It's complex and delicious, yet really simple to make. The ingredients are carefully thought out, and each bring something different to the table.
