Whenever I find myself drunk and hungry in San Francisco's Mission District, I hurry over to the stand selling hot dogs wrapped in bacon. According to my sister, this delicious hot dog — topped with caramelized onions, mustard, and ketchup with a grilled jalapeño on the side — is a specialty of Mexico. Wherever it's from, it's pure porky heaven.

While some of you were disgusted by the thought of consuming a bacon-wrapped hot dog, the majority of you would gladly eat one. If you will eat a bacon-wrapped hot dog, what about a chorizo-stuffed cheeseburger? Tara the Foodie made this burger stuffed with mushrooms and roasted jalapenos.

Every food has its moment, and bacon's moment is now. Honestly, the salty indulgence is showing up everywhere: covered in chocolate, wrapped around hot dogs, and tucked inside pig-shaped candy. Now, thanks to Last Appetite, I've discovered my new favorite bacon creation: French fry-covered bacon on a stick.

Last night's episode of The Next Food Network Star saw the Food Network hopefuls prepping signature chocolate dishes for NBA royalty, as well as serving up courtside food for the fans. It also took us from eight chefs down to six. That's right, in one fell swoop we lost two contestants.
