In People magazine's 100 most beautiful people issue, Food Network host Ingrid Hoffmann talks about her love of avocados - as both food and conditioner. She says she mashes up avocado and puts it in her shower cap to moisturize her hair. I've heard of people using other foods in their beauty routines, including lemons, eggs, beer, and olive oil. Come Party With Me: Summer Cocktail - The Look

When hosting a party in a pretty outdoor space, it's easy to keep the decorations to a minimum. For my Summer cocktail party tonight, I'll let the natural beauty of my sister's garden - complete with roses and koi pond - be the focal point. Then I'll create stations by placing small folding tables and chair clusters around the garden. To ensure flow, the food will be set up on platters in one area and the drink-making supplies in another part of the yard.

Outdoor globe lights take the patio from ordinary day to party night, and fresh-cut flowers look lovely on the tables.

Virgin Takes Flight With the Green Fairy

While other airlines are cutting back on in-flight services, last Friday, Virgin America added a new alcohol to its menu. Absinthe, the once illegal "hallucinogenic" spirit, is now available on all flights. The strong green liquor can be enjoyed on the rocks or mixed into the Mile-High Cocktail, a "tormenting and satisfying blend of Le Tourment Vert Absinthe, sprite, and lemons shaken and served over ice." Porter Gale, the vice president of marketing at Virgin, is very excited about the partnership. He said:

We couldn’t be more pleased to partner with Le Tourment Vert to become the first airline to offer guests absinthe in-flight. Virgin America is reinventing the typical flight experience with beautiful design, touch-screen entertainment, and an innovative food and cocktail menu – and the addition of Le Tourment Vert absinthe is sure to be a hit with our discriminating guests.

For those sitting first class or main cabin select, the absinthe cocktails are complimentary; in the main cabin, Le Tourment Vert is available for purchase. Although I'm not boarding Virgin America anytime soon, I normally enjoy a cocktail when traveling. It's nice to know that absinthe is an option. How do you feel about the news?

Padma Lakshmi's Jewelry Line Debuts Tomorrow

Model. Top Chef hostess. Cookbook author. Now Indian beauty and culinary world darling, Padma Lakshmi can add jewelry designer to her résumé. Her high-end (prices range from $300-6,000) namesake collection of gold jewels debuts tomorrow at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City and I've got a sneak preview! The line combines Padma's love for food and fashion.

She was inspired by cardamom, lentils, and cloves: "In hunting for the most precious spices, I found the shapes of seeds and pods exquisite, a purity of proportion and form that had an inherent sensuality to them." Entitled "Padma" the collection consists of 40 pieces including rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. I'm a fan of bohemian gold jewelry and if I could afford it, I might purchase of one Padma's pieces. What do you think of her designs?

Come Party With Me: March Madness - The Look

The main focus at a sports tournament viewing is the game, so keep the decor to a clean minimum. When the menu consists of an assortment of appetizers, select beautiful platters to serve them on. Think about the color of the food and how it will look once plated.

Place the Spring rolls in an oval shaped yellow platter and the dipping sauce in a matching shallow bowl. Set the quesadillas on a green plate, the meatballs on a blue one, and the asparagus on a yellow one. Arrange the lime squares on a cake tier.

Position the wine glasses in neat rows and a pitcher of drinks on a table that's away from the food - you want to create a flow from one area to another. Don't forget napkins and a charming bouquet of flowers. Daffodils are sunny and scream Spring.
