DIY Bloody Halloween Candles

I'm going a little party-crazy this week in preparation for the huge Halloween bash I'm hosting on Saturday. While I'll be using lots of orange Christmas lights in my decor, candles will also play a huge role in creating a spooky look. Better yet, I've decorated long white taper candles to appear as if they are dripping with blood!

This DIY project is incredibly easy, and the final product is super fun for a Halloween bash. These would be great incorporated into a Halloween dinner centerpiece. To see how I made these candles, read more

To make these candles, you will need:

white taper candles
one large red candle
old empty bottles
old newspaper
matches or a lighter

Start by creating a work surface. Cover a table with newspaper.
Place the empty bottles on the newspaper and stick the white candles inside the bottles.

Light the red candle and wait a minute for some wax to form.
Gently and carefully pour the red wax onto the white candle, letting it drip and fall.

Repeat with the process on all of the candles until each one is covered in dripping blood. Set aside to dry.
Use to decorate your Halloween party!

Come Party With Me: Halloween Dinner - The Look

Skulls and spiderwebs set the tone for a chic Halloween dinner. Cover the table with a black satin tablecloth and run a spiderweb print runner down the middle. Set the table with contrasting white square plates and place vampire teeth place card holders in the center of each plate. Make bloody candles and stick in black candelabra. Skull votives will glitter from afar, so set on shelves and windowsills.

Serve the cocktails in simple, clear glasses, so the eyeball ice cubes are clearly visible. Cover the chandelier and windows with stretchable spiderwebs. A vibrant bouquet of orange roses adds a splash of color.

Come Party With Me: Halloween Bash - The Look

Bloody candles and geometric pumpkins aren't the only fabulous decorations that will transform my friend Emily's house on Saturday night for our Halloween Bash.

The natural lighting will be replaced with orange Christmas lights and an excessive amount of votives. Black rat silhouette cut-outs will scurry up the staircase while spooky music plays in the entryway. The tables will be covered with black spiderweb tablecloths and piles of skeletons will act as creepy centerpieces.

The food and candy will be served in bright orange bowls, the drinks in orange plastic keg cups, and the cupcakes will fill the cupcake stand. Black, glittery candelabra add a touch of chicness. The punch bowl will rest inside a large fog making copper cauldron.
