New on the fast food scene, The Counter is going to revolutionize the way we eat burgers. With over 312,120 possible burger combinations, this restaurant allows you to customize your meal anyway you like.

Using a clipboard menu, you build the burger exactly how you want starting with the protein: certified humane beef, turkey burger, veggie burger, or grilled chicken. There are 10 cheese options, and you also get to choose five toppings from a long list including carrot strings, dried cranberries, hardboiled eggs, avocado, and sun-dried tomatoes. Further customize your burger by selecting a sauce and bread. I love that there are healthy choices in each category so you're not just stuck with beef high in saturated fat, iceberg lettuce, and a white flour bun.

Former Top Chef hostess and cookbook author Katie Lee Joel was crowned this year's queen of the Burger Bash. The event, which was hosted by Rachael Ray, was a part of the Food Network's NYC Wine and Food Festival. Joel was the only participating female among the 18 chefs who submitted burgers. Her burger was a cross between a hamburger and a grilled cheese.Dubbed the Logan County Hamburger, the burger is a creation of Joel's grandmother who made the burger with cheap ingredients during tough times. During the South Beach Festival, Rachael Ray's Burger Bash is one of the weekend's most coveted tickets. Naturally the event planners decided to recreate the party at the New York City counterpart. I was lucky (or unlucky — that many burgers made me sick, literally!) enough to attend the party last Friday night. While I wasn't able to stomach all 18 burgers, I did taste quite a few. Rachael Ray to Open Hamburger Restaurant

While she's hosted multiple television shows and even coined culinary phrases, Rachael Ray has never owned a restaurant. Until now. The celebrity chef has announced her plans to open a burger joint in midtown New York sometime next year. The news is not surprising, since Ray's always been big on burgers: On the Food Network website she has 70 different burger recipes. According to Ray the eatery will be:

A '60s back-in-the-day Rat Pack-y kind of hangout, and I want the bar to be really central [and] the burgers to become a very social thing. I want people to come to the bar to see beautiful proper martinis being made and to enjoy some sliders while they're doing business or sit in the dining room and have fine dining in ground form.

There's no word on what burgers will make the menu, but one thing's for sure: You can bet they'll have interesting names. Some of Ray's burger recipes include the blue-rugula burger, the Kentucky burgoo burger, and the jerky turkey burger.

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger on Labor Day. OK, so that doesn't have a great ring to it, but the last barbecuing holiday of the year has me craving burgers. The recently released Hamburger America got me thinking about where to get the best hamburger in the country, so I thought I'd throw the question out to you.

Steering clear of fast-food and homemade burgers, tell me: What was the best hamburger you ever had? What made it so special and delicious? It doesn't have to be expensive, but maybe it had some unique twist, or maybe it's a place you go all the time. I personally love Rosamunde Sausage Grill, where the burgers are so good they only serve 'em once a week. Tell me all about your favorite below.

When we heard about the newest addition to the Jack in the Box breakfast menu, some of us at the office got into a heated discussion. I was completely shocked to hear that DearSugar rarely eats fast food and has never been to a Taco Bell in her life! I, on the other hand, can let loose and enjoy a drive-thru burger every now and then, especially when a late-night craving strikes. What's your opinion on fast food? Are you willing to eat it?Source
