The spicy lemon mayonnaise and crunchy carrot slaw are essential to the dish. Don't leave them out; each component comes together to make a wonderfully flavorful and filling burger. When I made the patties the first time, I didn't use an egg; however, they started to fall apart, so I recommend using the egg as a binder. Day two of the New York City Wine & Food Festival has just wrapped, and I'm not sure how I did it, but I managed to survive one of the weekend's flagship events, the Burger Bash. This year's fête, which was hosted by comedienne Whoopi Goldberg (regular host Rachael Ray was out of the country on vacation), featured 21 different burgers, mostly from the New York area. Meet the World's Largest Hamburger

File this report under This Is Why America's Fat: This week, the United States officially set a new record for the world's largest hamburger.

The 777-pound burger, known as "Juicy's Outlaw Burger," was created this past Saturday by Oregon concessions company Juicy's at the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton, CA. The 1,375,000-calorie behemoth, which clocked in at five feet in diameter and three feet thick, toppled a previous Canadian record of 590 pounds.

It's only apropos that the United States sets a record for the largest burger world over at a time when it's setting a record for eating the largest quantity of burgers ever. According to the Burger Consumer Trend Report released today by research firm Technomic, a whopping 48 percent of consumers are eating a burger at least once a week. Are you one of them?
