Think You Know Candy Corn?

Hershey's has just released a new seasonal kiss flavor: Candy Corn. I saw some in the Halloween display at Target and picked them up for the office to try.

The first thing I noticed was the smell: an overpowering in your face butterscotch-caramel odor, or as YumJimmy put it, "it smells like old people candy." The smell should have been a hint, the candy is as overpowering as its odor. It's like an overly sweet white chocolate laced with butterscotch, heavy on the butter. I personally found them to be adorable, but way too sweet.

All of this candy corn coloring got me wondering about candy corn in general. So I looked up a few things and put it all together in a fun quiz! Think you know candy corn?

I'm not totally sure who declared today National Candy Day - doesn't Oct. 31 seem like a much likelier date? - but we are definitely going to celebrate it. As I've mentioned before, we've got a bit of a candy problem here at the Sugar HQ. There's a constant barrage of sour gummis, chocolate goodies and old school snacks. Just about everyone here can identify their Laffy Taffy from their Jolly Ranchers, but can you? To celebrate National Candy Day we've come up with a quick little quiz. I'll describe the candy and you tell me what it is. Good luck!

Although I think every day should be about chocolate, yesterday was officially National Chocolate Day, so I gave myself permission to indulge a little more than usual. (Not that I needed a reason.)

Given that Americans consume tens of billions of chocolate a year in this country alone, I figured you could use a quiz on the candy. Do you know the tempting treat? There's only one way to find out!

I'm sure you've heard what they say about a box of chocolates: you never know what you're gonna get. But this month's Martha Stewart Living includes tips for identifying boxed chocolates, from peanut bumps to the jagged profile of chocolate-dipped coconut.
