Advertisers once again turned to man's best friend (and other animal pals) for a $3 million dose of funny during yesterday's Super Bowl. And while it was a giant of a day for one group of gridironers, we think the trophy should go to Weego, the smartest (and cutest) rescue dog of them all! Which was your favorite? Car Companies Go Wild With Animal Commercials

By now, you've undoubtedly watched the brilliant Star Wars-themed "Bark Side" video teasing Volkswagen's Super Bowl commercial. Watching those pups from a galaxy far, far away made me realize that it isn't the first auto ad I have seen this year featuring a bunch of cute animals. Hyundai showcases its environmentally friendly Sonata Hybrid speeding past wide-eyed forest critters, while Subaru demonstrates its dog-approved vehicles with vignettes featuring outdoorsy canines. And let's not forget the party rockin' hamsters who conquer post-apocalyptic robots with their slick dance moves and a lime green Kia Soul.

Check Out the New Carl's Jr. Commercial, Featuring Miss Turkey

We were mighty surprised Monday to hear that Carl's Jr. and its brother restaurant, Hardee's, were going the healthy route with a new turkey burger under 500 calories - but far less shocked to hear about its commercial campaign featuring a scantily clad Miss Turkey in a bikini. After all, she'd only be following in the footsteps of Paris Hilton, Padma Lakshmi, Audrina Patridge, and Kim Kardashian.

Thankfully, there's no silly statement from Miss Turkey about growing up with fond Carl's Jr. memories. The commercial does have a twist, however: there's even more burger than meets the eye. Check out the spot when you read more.

VW Darth Vader Gets Unmasked, Kinda Looks Like Mark Hamill

The Volkswagen ad called The Force was far and away my favorite spot from this weekend's Super Bowl. While I was hoping that little Darth would be a girl (there's a pink room!), the actor that played Darth Vader in the ad was unmasked earlier today on The Today Show in NYC.

Not only is 6-year-old Max Page totally adorable, but he's got a story, too: at just 3 months old, he had his first open heart surgery due to a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. While Max has never actually seen Star Wars for himself (it's too scary), he does slightly resemble the original trilogy's star, Mark Hamill, don't you think?

Get enough action during the Super Bowl yesterday? If you were busy high-fiving your fellow fans between plays and missed the fun, funny, and sometimes "awwww"-worthy ads, then here's your chance to catch up.

Now through Feb. 10, you can watch all of the Super Bowl XLV ads on Facebook's official sports page, and vote for your favorites by "liking" them. The one who goes home with the most votes will be crowned the official 2011 Facebook Replay Winner! While I was definitely entertained by the commercials, I feel like most of them weren't as geeky as last year. Remember the Intel ads? Genius.

Which iPhone Ad Is Better, Verizon's or AT&T's?

Verizon and AT&T have been battling it out for some time, but now that Verizon offers the iPhone, it's heating up. Exhibits A and B: two new iPhone-centric commercials, one from Verizon and one from AT&T.

The message from Verizon's ad is clear: the iPhone is awesome, and on the Verizon network it actually works. AT&T chose to highlight the one feature that its iPhone has that Verizon's does not: the ability to talk on the phone and browse the Internet at the same time.

Since each 30-second Super Bowl ad spot costs around a hefty $3 million, companies dedicate a lot of energy and moolah to their commercials. It seems like it might be worth it for some - these ads have catapulted industry no-namers like GoDaddy.com into the limelight. Are you excited about watching the commercials this Sunday?

This commercial has me scratching my head:

The last animal-related, controversial Verizon LG Dare commercial I recall was from a few years back, but this message is also about mobile phones and totally baffling. Huh. I may be sensitive because of those poor puppies that recently passed, but share your opinions of the clip in the comments below.
