Summer is just around the corner and I'm EXCITED! Summer is my favorite time of year: I love the warm weather, long days, and alfresco dining. I prefer to use a special set of outdoor dinnerware when eating outside.

I was flipping through the latest Crate & Barrel catalog and noticed their new line of Elixyr Dinnerware ($64.95-$249.95). I like that they're really simplistic, and yet have a completely unique and modern look to them. What do you think?

If you're the eater in a dinner-party relationship — the person who comes over to chow down — then you may want to thank your entertainer by adding them to your holiday list. You could opt for a nice bottle of wine, but since that is so obvious, why not get them something a little more unique? There are quite a few things for the dinner party enthusiast, you can surprise them with this clever baguette tray and knife ($38) — it is a bit specialized, but is still a load of fun — or splurge and get them a new set of placemats.

I'm really digging CB2's new j dinnerware. It's simple and plain — perfect for food photography! — but has just a tiny bit of flare on the edges.

If you can't make it camping — or if you're like PartySugar and don't enjoy camping — this set of four glass camping plates will allow you to bring the campground home. Designed by Caroline Wolfe, these are hand-painted with icons reminiscent of camp. The whole set is $60, which is more than a night under the stars, but they'll last a lot longer.

Are you guys a fan of special servingware for children? Little ones have little mouths and hands, and can sometimes be picky eaters, so cute plates, cups, and utensils might encourage them to eat more. However, I absolutely hate this kids smile place setting by Mono.

One of my favorite things about traveling is checking out the maps of the area. I love the way the roads curve, the rivers wind and the streets intersect. Now, thanks to the folks at notNeutral, I can easily travel to four fantastic cities from the comfort of my dining table.

As someone who understands the need to find just the right color, I find both the Pantone Palettes Dinnerware and Pantone Mugs exceptionally fabulous. My personal favorite, Pantone 021C is a vibrant orange that just screams good morning! If orange isn't your thing, then perhaps a muted cup and saucer in four shades of burnt ochre?

I was looking through the Yum Market and noticed a bunch of beautiful nature inspired dinner and glassware. Looks like I'm not the only one with a weakness for branches, flowers and all things organic. My favorite part is that all of these incorporate nature, but manage to look young, modern and hip, not old, rustic and stuffy.
