The Krispy Kreme Challenge

On Saturday, Feb. 8, over 5,000 runners participated in an unusual charity race that raised about $35,000 for the North Carolina Children's Hospital by taking the Krispy Kreme Challenge. The race begins with a two-mile run to the Krispy Kreme shop, an unusual spot for a race rest station. There the runners need to down a dozen glazed doughnuts, before running two miles back to the starting line. Read more

Doughnut USB Device: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

I've already eaten a plastic pumpkin worth of Halloween candy in the last week, but this Doughnut Shaped device has me salivating and ready for a bakery run. It's not as intricate or scrumptious looking as the Sushi USB devices, but who wouldn't want to back up their work if they could whip out a doughnut to do so? According to Gizmodo, you can get one for just $3.63 — if you buy 500 of Read more

What's Your Favorite Kind of Doughnut?

Even if it's not true, it definitely got me thinking about doughnuts and I wondered, what's your favorite kind of doughnut? Source: Food Read more

Leonard's Bakery Malasadas

Maybe you're familiar with tuna poke, plate lunches, and other culinary contributions from Hawaii, but have you ever heard of a malasada? I hadn't — that is, until I visited Honolulu and was told that they can't be missed. Much like a sugar doughnut, a malasada is a confection of fried yeast dough that's been showered in granulated sugar. I enjoyed plenty of them during my stay, but the best Read more
