How to Store Wine

When we sat down with Ray Isle at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, he not only talked value wines, he also shared tips for storing wine. Ideally, wine should be kept in a temperature-controlled room or refrigerator, but an interior closet with a steady temperature of 65-68°F is perfectly fine. Unfortunately, according to Isle, many people don't know how to properly store wine and make the Read more

What Goes Into the Cost of Wine?

One of the most informative seminars at the Food & Wine Classic was taught by sommelier (and James Beard Award winner) Belinda Chang. She's made her name as the wine director at The Modern restaurant in New York City. The 2011 Outstanding Wine Service Award winner — whose seminar was titled "Bling vs. Bargain? Do You Drink Riesling?

One of the highlights of the weekend at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen was a party on Saturday night hosted by Wines of Germany. At the event, I sipped countless Rieslings and was blown away by how much I enjoyed the crisp, refreshing, and somewhat floral whites. Rieslings are affordable, versatile, and very food-friendly. I drink them all the time, but am wondering: what's your take on the Read more

2011 Aspen Food and Wine Classic

While the celebrity chef demos and wine sommelier seminars are some of the things I look forward to at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, there's nothing quite like the tasting tent. Michael Symon at the Food and Wine Classic

One of the most popular cooking demonstrations at the Food & Wine Classic every year is hosted by Top Chef judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons. However, today's seminar was a little different, as Colicchio had to go to the hospital and couldn't make it. Luckily, another bald chef was on hand to stand in for Colicchio: Iron Chef Michael Symon! Symon and Simmons cooked one dish each using Read more
