I remember my excuses for not having or doing my homework to have been pretty lame, but as for tech excuses, like my computer "ate" the file — well, let's just say I'm sure I made them do it too. A study found that these days, the new
homework excuses are tech-related, such as blaming hackers for getting into your laptop to snag just your 10-page paper on 12th century witchcraft.
So has one of your gadgets ever eaten or ruined your work, somehow?

On Monday, Wired posted a comical story about
five gadgets that have been killed by the cell phone, then yesterday amended the post to
include even more gadgets that have been tossed aside for the convenience of all-in-one cell features.
This got me wondering if your cell phone has taken the place of your other gadgets? I know that my iPhone has inadvertently replaced several on this list, but there are a few I can't live without (hello, proper digital camera!).

Upon the "rumor mill" news that
Walmart may be selling the iPhone soon, I realized one thing: I have a thing about buying Apple products at the Apple store. Even if I might be able to get something quicker somewhere else (I did NOT want to stand in the AT&T line on
July 11, 2008), there's just something magical about going to the white church of Apple and checking out there (hell, emailed receipts! Why isn't everyone doing that?!).

I had to think a little bit about what the most expensive piece of technology I owned was. Not because I spend money like it's goin' out of style, but because I have made so many
gadget investments in the last few years that I had to figure out which topped the list.
So far, I think it's my MacBook Pro, although my HDTV comes in very close.

When I moved out of my parents house they were kind enough to give me a wide selection of kitchen tools. However, the peeler I ended up with is older than me! After struggling to peel one too many apples, the time has come for a shiny, new peeler.

What's with all the gadget hate lately? First
Nick Nolte blamed his house fire on a broken printer and now
Qantas is investigating the role of laptops and other personal gadgets in a recent scary altitude drop.
Now I'm not one to say "there's nothing to fear," since I can be pretty paranoid about this stuff myself.

You've probably already been back to school for a few weeks now, but it's never too late to update your wardrobe, and this (of course) includes your gadget wardrobe!
What kind of a friend would I be if I let you walk around campus with last year's laptop bag or DS case? Psh.

Heading back to school this Fall? If you're going to be shacking up in a college dorm room, then you already have a long list of things to bring with you, but I've got a great slideshow of things you can't forget — your tech! Check 'em out with a checklist in hand!

The first thing I thought when I came across this
Pizza Pro pizza slicer ($19.99) was genius!
Then I imagined using it. The scissored spatula looks like it might be difficult to maneuver.

Trends in gadget colors have always turned toward the basic — unfortunate beiges and grays plagued computers and video game consoles, with black being the king for a long time, but now white is being ushered in. Though it's as basic as the aforementioned neutrals, it's anything but boring. Its cleanliness looks fresh and pretty and more fitting for some interiors.
