While it may not be the most widely-celebrated holiday of the calendar year, Groundhog Day (Feb. 2) is a tradition that dates back to 1887, and acknowledges that it is a fun way to add some excitement to your lil one's week. Check out these five sweet treats to celebrate the coming Spring (or extension of Winter).

Buzz In: What Movie Should People See Before They Die?

I'm a little bit wary of "watch/read/listen to this before you die" lists, because I don't know if I totally get the point. Movie lists in particular seem to focus on really good, classic movies, but why not have a little fun, too? What about the so-bad-it's-good movies that are worth seeing - like, say, Center Stage? (I love that movie.)

The good folks at Yahoo! are the latest to tackle this challenge, pulling together 100 movies to see before you die, defined as such:

To choose the titles for the list, we considered factors like historical importance and cultural impact. But we also selected films that we believe are the most thrilling, most dramatic, scariest, and funniest movies of all time."

This list is fairly comprehensive and includes a wide range of titles like Citizen Kane, Groundhog Day, and Roman Holiday. There are some titles I'm impressed made it on their list (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) and some omissions that boggle my mind (Wall-E!).

But there are always movies, both big and small, that get overlooked on lists like these, and so I'm wondering: If you could suggest one single movie that people should see before they die, what would it be?

The lil groundhog proclaimed, "As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me. Six more weeks of winter it will be!"

So keep your babies bundled up and their snug toppers close. Spring is still coming – just not so close.

Cute Groundhog Cupcakes

We posted these adorable groundhog cupcakes last year, but I completely forgot about them until right now! While you wait to see if good ol' Phil sees his shadow - it happens tomorrow - why don't you whip up one of these cute Groundhog Day cupcakes?

Start with your favorite cupcake recipe, (or use Magnolia Bakery Vanilla Cupcakes) stick a chocolate candy bar (my suggestion: a mini twix) upright in the baked and cooled cupcake. Spread your favorite frosting to hold the candy in place. To make the groundhog's eyes and tooth, cut a tiny piece of white jelly bean and glue into place with frosting. Dot with black decorators gel or melted chocolate. Cut a triangle noise from a watermelon-shaped sour candy and use mini brown M&Ms for adorable itsy-bitsy edible ears and cheeks. Sprinkle chocolate cookie crumb "dirt" around the groundhog.

Today, in case you forgot, is Groundhog Day. If you have young kids explain the concept to them and make these cute little cupcakes together. It can be like a Friday afternoon treat. Start with your favorite cupcake recipe, (or use Magnolia Bakery Vanilla Cupcakes) stick a chocolate candy bar (my suggestion: a mini twix) up right in the baked and cooled cupcake. Feeling Tempted To Call An Ex?

My "Stop, Drop, and Roll" technique is my tried and true, all-time favorite method for avoiding Relationship Groundhog Day (the insanity of doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result), which is what we do when we make impulsive, unconscious choices like calling an ex when we know better. Learning this skill is not only effective but, according to scientific studies, developing delayed gratification has been associated with success in all areas of life. It works just like a fire drill!

Stop:

True love does not have a shelf life, Real love will be here tomorrow, next week, and next year! Your life is not a movie, and healthy relationships do not thrive on drama, low self-esteem, neediness, loneliness, fear, etc.

Drop:

Drop the story you are telling yourself by thinking it all the way through. Ask yourself, "What do I really want? Why am I so desperate? What do I expect my ex to do for me on the other end of the phone?" Then sit down for a moment and listen to your answers. Don't get up until you have the courage to tell yourself the whole truth.

Most often we dial our ex because we are lonely, bored, need validation that we are lovable, are romanticizing the past, need a "fix," or want to avoid feeling something that makes us uncomfortable. When we drop in, essentially we are learning the most profound relationship skill of all, self-inquiry.

Self-inquiry is key to avoiding self-destructive patterns, developing self-love, and attracting a great partner! When we learn how to be with our discomfort (sit quietly and listen to our own real needs, let the pain, etc., come up and out) we learn we can give ourselves what we need, or at least get clarity. If we don't know what we feel, we don't know what we need. Once we have developed this critical skill we can avoid dragging ourselves and our ex through another unconscious round of voluntary pain and suffering!

Roll:

Once you have interrupted your impulse by stopping and dropping into what's really going on, then you get to choose. Our ability to choose is what keeps us from repeating self-destructive patterns and separating us from what our hearts truly desire. When we have given ourselves the space to think through what we need, then and only then can we access these real choices - primarily because we are now internally focused.
