L'Shanah Tovah (Happy New Year)! Last night was the beginning of the
Rosh Hashanah. During this time of reflection and rejoicing, much of the celebration happens at the dinner table.

Having just watched my husband suffer through yet another
sinus infection (he has a
deviated septum, so he is prone to them), I was excited to see that honey might provide a new cure for his ongoing problem. While the
healing properties of this Biblical substance are not new to me, using if for chronic sinusitis, which affects millions of people still seems brilliant.
Canadian
researchers found that two types of honey, manuka honey from New Zealand and sidr honey from Yemen, effectively killed antibiotic resistant bacterial strains that cause many sinus infections.

The other day I was browsing the recipes on TeamSugar and this one by
VirginSin caught my eye: Was it a breakfast item, a snack, or a dessert? I think the answer is all of the above! These bite-sized treats — a combination of cornflakes, honey, and peanuts — are served in paper cups making them a tasty, portion-controlled indulgence.

This week's so packed to the brim with festivals nationwide, you couldn't avoid one if you tried. There are food and wine classics all across the East Coast, and here in the West, we're planning on dropping by the
chocolate festival in our neck of the woods. If we've left anything out, please chime in below.

Both kids and moms love lemonade. It's sweet tart taste is pleasing to a child's palette and it's pale yellow color won't stain, making mom happy. For a
boy's birthday party on Alcatraz pack two coolers.

After pigging out on hot dogs, steak, and potato salad all weekend, tonight I'm in desperate need of something lighter like grilled fish.
This grilled salmon with spicy honey basil sauce sounds delicious! The fresh salsa is crunchy and cool and the salmon is moist and flaky.
Honey Bees Disappearing, Food Supply in Danger
Some people get their news from fancy newspapers and high falutin' websites, and some, if you're like me, learn things from the lid of a pint of Haagen-Dazs. Would that I were kidding, this is the truth folks: did you know that honey bees are disappearing like size 8 shoes at a sale? It's true.

After chicken, salmon is my go-to meat for quick, flavorful dinners. It takes wonderfully to a variety of seasonings and cooks in mere minutes. In this case, the salmon is glazed with thick honey, fresh lemon, and grated ginger.

Nothing makes food more fun than serving it on a stick. Both children and grown kids will love these sausage fruit kabobs. Smoked sausage slices are skewered with chunks of crispy apples and fresh zucchini.
